I learned a very clever technique last night off an old snooker guy on our league team that I thought some people might find interesting.
After searching around for a spider to do a long shot over an obstructing ball for 5 mins I realized that it had gone MIA. Then our resident snooker pro told me how to hold an extension (the simple "x" kind) so I could make it any hight I wanted.
All you do is hold the extension with your thumb and index finger looped around the shaft and place the extension on the table and apply pressure to the butt end with your palm and hold your other fingers out to the side for stability. The net result is that your index finger is turned into a pivot and you can elevate the extension to any hight you want by moving the forwards or backwards. The "x" is floating in the air but when done right it is incredibly stable, probably more so than when I use an extension normally.

PS Sorry to the JUSTA-BRIDGE guy for costing him a few sales!
