I just got home and I'm tired as all get out so I can't go into detail tonight but there were some great matches played this weekend at the Playing Field in Richmond, VA. Josh "The Mayor" Dickerson put on a heckuva tournament!
I suspect RichR might be posting the upsets, trials, & tribulations along with some great photographs tomorrow. To tide the curious over until then, here's the run down. /ccboard/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Wendy, I'm not sure who won it a couple of yrs ago but I recall someone telling me that Chris did, so I'm pretty sure you're right.
If any of you are interested, I've made a full write up on the event... matches, players, upsets, action... it's all HERE (http://www.insidepoolmag.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101) /ccboard/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Timberly, I will leave the main reporting to those who can put a complete sentence together. /ccboard/images/graemlins/confused.gif
I will try to get some pictures up ASAP, but they have to be edited and resized first. My pictures are way to large to post, as they are. As I have been away from my home for almost a week, because of some other things, I have some catching up to do.
I think the biggest story was that 16 year old Chris Futrell was ahead of Chirs Loar, by 6-0 or 6-1. Chris Loar kicked into another gear and came back to win.
The most interesting fact of the tournament is that there were 5 players, all under the age of 21, who made it to day two, in the top 16 of the field. Four of those players went on to finish in the money. That says a lot about pool and the younger generation. /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Rich:
That was my mistake. There were only 4 under 21; 3 in the $, 1 out. I thought Brandon was under 21. My mistake brother!

Here are a few pictures from the Va. State Tournament.
I am sorry I do not know the names of all of these players.
Parrot Cues is now located inside the Playing Field pool room and was one of the major sponsors for this event. This is "Rayman" behind the counter.

This is promoter/tournament director Joshua Dickerson, known to us all as "The Mayor" or JMD in Va.

This is what they were playing for, the trophy and the cash. The trophy was made by our own Brian in Va., who also makes our CCB Tournament trophy.

This is 16 year old Chris Futrell, last year's second place finisher and this year's fourth place finisher. Keep an eye on this kid, he is very good. However, he is smart enough to be doing well in school also. /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Brian in Va. seems to be checking out the competition at the next table.
