I'm a hobby pool player and, becoming fed up with the "tatty" cues provided, bought one for myself. This is a SMART cue with a 9mm tip and a brass ferrule.
Yesterday, I was advised by the pool hall personnel that 9mm was too small for American pool (8 ball) and metal ferrules should never be used on American tables.
Is he right?
