I just spoke to my son who was visiting a doctor at NY Hospital two-three blocks from the plane crash, he told me that the whole building was evacuated... and that has to be quite a sight, it is a very large place 20 stories and it is not the only one around there Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and two other large Hospitols are there.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Police say an aircraft has crashed into a building on Manhattan's Upper East Side at 72nd Street and York Avenue. It is near Rockefeller Center.

There was no word on casualties.

Video from the scene shows at least three apartments in the high rise fully engulfed in flames.

It's unclear if it was a small plane or a helicopter.

Small plane, newer aircraft, they're saying the pilot gave a may-day message, might have had mechanical problems.

If 9/11 changed everything, how come private planes are still flying over NY city?
