Don't know if this is stupid question or not. I have a 4.5x9 ft brunswick snooker table and want to know what size ball is used on it? Is there a measurement of the pockets that dictate the correct size ball to be used? I want to purchase a regular set of balls to go with the table. I have seen several different sizes......Joe /ccboard/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Snooker balls are 2 1/8". Pool balls are 2 1/4"...JER
That is a small snooker table, there usually 10 or 12 feet. At any rate snooker balls are 2 1/8 inches. Pool balls are 2 1/4 inches.

Thanks for the info Rod but as I recall the table we owned when I was you was a 4.5x9 table and the balls just barely fit in the pockets, Dothey make a set of 2 1/8/pool balls? and what should be the measurement of the pocket openings....Joe

There are the 2 1/8th" diameter used in the U.S., but I think the British use the 2 1/16th" diameter.

Here is a link to a British site:
The third set down the page comes in a variety of sizes from
1 3/8" to 2"

If it's a snooker table use the 2 1/8" balls. I play on a pool table so I use 2 1/4"
Joe, I can't answer exact pocket size. Snooker like pool do/may have different pocket openings. BCA lists sizes for pool but not snooker. Generally there about 3 inches, (American snooker 2 1/8" balls) can be a bit larger.
4 1/2 x 9 snooker tables were made or someone may have done a conversion. Yes, pool balls in 2 1/8" are made. I'd look to a large supplier like Muellers. The United States Snooker Association could be of assistance. Allen Morris is or was the president but rarely posts here. You can always send them an email. Hope this helps.

Rod and others thanks for all your replys. Just moved the table friday and all the numbers match all the parts. I assume that this table started out as a snooker table and since I don't have a set of regulars balls will want to purchase a set that suits the small openings of a snooker table. the model is a brunswick Regina, a very well put to gether table that needs to be refinished, Plays great!!! thanks again everyone. /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif
