Although polls never seem to get anywhere. . . .

Sudden inspiration on the last three--although I prefer the 8/9 balls. . . .

Also, the font in #6 can be retro'd to 2-4.

I am not assuming that one of my designs will be used, I just wanted to see if any were liked enough for MikeM to consider for production.

As it is, only Pizza Bob and myself offered any designs, and I have too many (so I guess I want to narrow down my submissions).

One more thing, If anyone else has some ideas, send me a note, and I will try to graphically interpret it.

Thanks.

Hey heater!
I like #6, but I'm not crazy about the colors. I like that one cause this is the cue chalk board, after all! If metal, I also like the idea of leaving a space to engrave names and such. BTW, the poll didn't submit for me.

Heater, put me in for #6.

I like number 4 the most. It is the one most like number six, but I prefer the look of the bold font for "CCB", and it is also more eye catching which would be helpful for spotting other CCBers. I think the green background is good because it symbolizes the classic green cloth of table felt, and the yellow for the letters is good because it stands out more than any other color, and goes well with green.

SA-WEET!!

I think the chalk's the best one. Everyone on this board prefers their own game and that includes more than 8- and 9-ball.

Barbara~~~to each their own.... /ccboard/images/icons/smile.gif!

Of these choices, I like #4 the best. I tried to vote, however, there was already a vote from this IP address. That darned AOL IP thing getting in the way. I wonder who it thinks I am??!?

Heater, why not your # 4 inside Pizza Bobs # 6?

I think the table would have to be 'stylized' a bit more. If these things are supposed to be on plastic, or those rubber-ish type keychains, then it's best to limit the number of colors/details.

Lester, Lita pants are black leather (or vinyl) skin tight pants. Lita Ford wore them in one of her videos back in the late 80's.

You know everyone seems to be talking about key chains, which would be kind of hard to spot, specially in a pocket.

I suggest that one of your great designs be made into an eye patch. There would be no problem spotting a ccb'er sporting such a bucaneerial?, piratical?, dashing look. Perhaps a small eye hole could be incorporated to keep from bumping into those on the blind side.

&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;Dave, you always have great ideas. This would really work for Voodoo and Kato. Voodoo would wear the patch, and Kato could sit on his shoulder yelling "AWK, we'll give you the eight"! &gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;Now you come back with the pirate hat line, and we've got a hilarious thread. Rod
07-24-2002, 07:36 PM
Heater, I know there needs to be a web site to display the photo's here. But what program do you use to create them? The one most interesting is CC on the key tag or the guy with a patch. How did you do those. Don't get into detail just curious. I have two photo programs, Microsoft Picture it and MGI photo suite and I can put a picture in a picture.
Maybe I need to experiment a bit more, but I doubt it will do what you have done. Very nice job on all the tags. I want the latest Adobe but I can't find anyone to buy it for me. Whats wrong with this world? People should give a lot more to us in need! LOL Oh I have MS Publisher also.

wonders if that would slow him down. Well I could have said Voodoo, but I want to live a little longer lol

Watch it Rod. Voodoo has Kato, CC has ME. Yeah, that's right, ME. His Agent 99. So maybe I'm not trained in Judo or a martial art, but I've been known to give a good swift kick when needed.

Feel free to jump in at any time, Boss (CC). You know I don't do the talkin'... that's your area (and forte!) /ccboard/images/icons/laugh.gif!

<blockquote><font class="small">Quote: Rod:</font><hr>. . .But what program do you use to create them? The one most interesting is CC on the key tag or the guy with a patch. How did you do those. Don't get into detail just curious.<hr></blockquote>I used Adobe Illustrator to create the original logos, then exported bitmaps (.BMP), and took them through Photoshop, to resize and compress them. The Chris keychain was done in Photoshop (see the end of the next section, below).

<blockquote><font class="small">Quote: Rod:</font><hr> I have two photo programs, Microsoft Picture it and MGI photo suite and I can put a picture in a picture. Maybe I need to experiment a bit more, but I doubt it will do what you have done.<hr></blockquote>I'm very familiar with either of these, but they sound to be more oriented towards basic photograph editing (crop, resize, some colorizing, etc.). The tools included in this type of package would be what you would use to create web photo albums and such.

Adobe Photoshop ($500-600) ( www.adobe.com (http://www.adobe.com) ) is a fuller-featured photo/graphic manipulation application--the stripped down version is Photoshop Elements ($99). You may be able to find older copies of "Photo Deluxe", which is like Elements, but the GUI is closer to P-shop. Many scanners and digital cameras came with it bundled in the package. See the website for trial downloads.

Ulead Photo Impact ($69-99) ( http://www.ulead.com/pi/runme.htm ), is another option, as well as Jasc PaintShop Pro ( http://www.jasc.com/products/psp/ )--both also have free trial versions.

I think Macromedia Fireworks ( http://www.macromedia.com/software/fireworks/ ) is more slanted towards web-only, but GIFs and JPGs are pretty much the same, with whatever you export them. They have a trial as well.

All of these allow you to work in layers, and with selection tools ("Marquee") so that you can composite pieces however you wish (CC + keychain, for example). A selection can also be feathered, so that you can vignette the edge of an asset/photo and blend it into something else--that is, soften the edges together. If you'd like to learn more about graphics, check out WebMonkey's Photoshop Crash Course ( http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/design/graphics/tutorials/tutorial1.html ) and nose around www.lynda.com (http://www.lynda.com)

<blockquote><font class="small">Quote: Rod:</font><hr>I want the latest Adobe but I can't find anyone to buy it for me. Whats wrong with this world? People should give a lot more to us in need! LOL Oh I have MS Publisher also.<hr></blockquote>If you can afford it, Photoshop is the way to go. The 'latest' version (7) isn't going to matter that much to you. If you can swing a deal, Photoshop 6 or 5.5 will work just fine for you.

As a goof, I decided to recreate one of the logos in Microsoft Word (yes, I said "Word")! I took all of about 7 minutes, and decided not to try and figure out how to mask off the yellow, 9-ball bar. . . . http://heater451.home.mindspring.com/images/keychain04_word.gif

Oh, and lest I forget. . .Pizza Bob did his logo designs with Microsoft Paint, which can be loaded from a Windows disk. He's good with it. . . .

Laurel and Hardy eh? Wait lets make that Chris and Barbara. Wait that was not a good comparison, 99 is tall and slim. How about Barbara Laurel and Chris Hardy, That sounds better, sorry Chris.
Well kick me, beat me, burn me and make me write bad checks. Oh wait thats another site. Kidding of course Barbara. Notice I didn't call you Barb. I have a lot of respect for those at at higher altitude. Now Chris, you know the little guy, is another story. He can't see anyway. I think I have the visual on the leg press so I'm know when I'm in trouble. Doh tee dum I think it's time to hide. I feel a plate or a swift foot headed my direction. duck, missed me. ha ha ha

Hey Lester,

My very own bobble-head doll. I must be a star.

I drove to Duncan, BC to play in a 9-ball tournament last night. Strangely enough, I drew Hoppy's friend, Larry Wilson, for my first match. Very good player and nice guy. He whipped me 5-3 but it was a pleasure to play with him. It seems there are lots of strong players on the Island.
