Just wondering: Who are the best players in New York City apart from Mika Ginky Tony Steve Lipsky and Danny Barouty?
Wally
Chris Lynch has got to be on the list, Flaco, the Russian? not sure, Hernandez, lots of new ones I don't know about, lots of old ones now gone.

Is Flaco a dark skinned man from the Dominican Republic? If its the same one {I'm sure there are 37,536 Flaco's} his game is real solid.
Not particularly dark-skinned that I noticed, but I pay scant attention to that so I could be wrong. The Flaco I'm refering to is tall and thin, always wears a hat (baseball in summer, knit cap in winter). His real name is Tony Rodriguez, and yeah, he's real solid. Nice gentleman, at least to me.

Not the same guy...I have heard of your Flaco... 2 down, 37,450 to go!!
The BEST? Although living in CT but plays mostly in NYC, new comer Ronnie "Calamba" Alcano. Calibre? Like Busta and Reyes.

I'd also add Nick Schulman, who was just moved up to the Open Class and is not yet 18. Gary Sofizade, Carlos Luna, Jason Kane and Rolando of ABCW is a great player who doesn't play so much anymore.
Flaco is from PR by the way...
Steve Lipsky is a low D player. Don't let him fool you

Whassup Carol!
I think the list can run pretty long if you think about all the players in the general area! I know there's plenty of guys from NJ and CT that all make the rounds. I think you mentioned Lapena, don't forget Dan "Fat Danny" Basavich(before he was Kid D) Teddy Garrahan, Johnny Erv and Jack Colavita too.
Eric >still workin on the 2 ball run

There is 1 Dominican dude that I know. They call him "El Burrito" (the Donkey) and he is REALLY good. He's played in the tourneys at Balukas' place and he's beaten Gerda and Jean. What a sweet stroke! I think he's more into hustlin' though. Not sure.

Jeeze, you win one tournament..../ccboard/images/icons/wink.gif !!!
I thought he was Puerto Rican. He is really good though. He started coming by Queens area about a year ago and cleaned up pretty good. I heard he beat Danny Barouty too.

He's definitely Dominican. When he used to show up at Hall of Fame Billiards he used to come with his entourage. I used to have a ball talking to all of them. Burrito (I think his name is Juan) use to tell me that it's nice to see a "compatriota" (fellow Dominican) playing too.
