I guess when you are in Iraq ANY celebrity will do!

[ QUOTE ]
BAGHDAD—U.S. troops stationed in Iraq hailed an unannounced and unaccompanied visit Monday from Barney, the senior White House dog who belongs to President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush.

Barney is escorted by troops at the Baghdad airbase.
Landing in Baghdad's Green Zone amid extremely tight security, the Scottish terrier met with nearly 800 troops at a military mess hall, then visited Camp Victory, the U.S. military headquarters on the outskirts of Baghdad. In both locations, the 6-year-old First Dog was greeted with loud cheers and standing ovations by servicemen and women.

"Barney's visit really cheered us all up," said Army Spc. Anthony Udall, who was given the privilege of escorting Barney across the airport tarmac. "I can't tell you how great it is that the White House would send one of its own to spend some time with us out here."

Pretty telling, huh? Bush leaves our people in the middle of a kaotic, civil war slaughter, and sends his dog in to cheer them up. That's about as effective as the rest of his policies. /ccboard/images/graemlins/wink.gif

It's been so hard to post here lately...hard to find a current event that doesn't somehow have some political overtones.
Either one party is for, and the other against, or one group is in denial, while the other wants an investigation.
So any post commenting on the news might draw the wrath of the censorship committee here.
In the spirit of Christmas though, I feel obligated to comment on the GWB attempt to cheer up the troops.
Rather then send the family's beloved dog ....wouldn't it have been an even warmer gesture, to put dog collars on the twins and send them over?

George, why do you hate your dog?

LOL, so far, the censorship committee's tactics have been about as effective as George Bush's presidency, lol. Personally, I find it rather humorous, and particularly, the timing of their sudden lack of patience for freedom of speech. Could it be...that recent developments which have revealed the failures, corruption, and dishonesty of the present Republican administration, have, shall we say, incited their attacks against freedom of expression?

Their attitudes, surely seem to match those of the administration's, as regards any highlighting of results of present policy.

As for the Bush twins, I think their were already tied up, partying. BTW, do either of them have a job?

This is really funny, if true. You didn't give a source, so you may have just been duped by an internet rumor. Still funny, though.
