View Full Version : how to authenticate a real Mike Capone cue? PICS!!

Hi All....I was just browsing ebay and happened to see a Capone that I actually like. It was explained to me that it was an older Capone therefore the joint didn't have the signature logo on it. My question is, how can one authenticate it? Mike is more than likely sitting at his booth now at Derby City so it's hard to reach them to verify it and the auction ends in a few days. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Difficult without Mike. The very early ones he signed - usually along a point or, in the absence of points above the wrap. There was a period where he wasn't using the personalized pin nor signing them. If it isn't signed and the pin is plain, it should be a 3/8" x 7.5 radial pin. Bumpers were push-in flat ones. This could be tough. I know you're reluctant to publish a link to the auction (who needs the competition?), but if you want to send me a link in a private e-mail, I'll take a look. I'm no authority, but I've known Mike for years and have seen many of his cues. Good luck.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

Well it certainly looks right. Mike likes the RR track rings, it has the right bumper, the right pin and the points are long and sharp. Just judging from the pictures, I'd say it's the genuine article. Did you ask the seller when and where he got it?
