Hi to all. I am new to this forum and just a couple of quick questions.
Has anyone heard of Schmelke Cues?
What can you tell me about them?

They've been around since the 60's or 70's. Were a vendor for Brunswick in 69, 70 & 71 building cues for them. US built in Wisconsin I believe. Very distinctive joint - different than most. Hits surprisingly well although stylistically behind the curve. Definite alternative to the imports. Good entry level cue. What more do you want to know?

So it is a good entry level cue. That is what I am looking for.

The first nice cue I ever bought for myself was a Schmelke. I was happy, the world was wonderful, and the game had magic. Then, tragedy; the aluminum 'super joint' as it was called seized on me and the cue would not come apart into its two pieces. It took two strong people to wrest it apart after many other methods were tried. The cue was ruined. Other than that type of joint, the other cues made by Schmelke are fine. Just avoid any that have finely threaded aluminum joint sections on BOTH the shaft and the butt. Good cues.
