Hi guys, I am new to this forum. I'm glad I found it. I got my pool table recovered 1 week ago with Simonis cloth. I'm not to happy with the appearance. The table plays good with no obvious ripple and cloth seems tight but is this appearance accetable. Thanks for looking.

Are you talking about the blue streaks near the left center pocket?

seems like discoloration when the cloth was still folded/rolled. what did the installer said?

Well I talked to my installer about 1 hour ago. He said the whole left side if looking at my pictures was the stretch side. He stretched it very tight and to start playing on it. He said give it a couple of months for the cloth to loosen up and it will look perfect. He said he has been recovering tables for 14 years and said to relax, It will be fine. He said he would come out if I wanted but he wasn't going to do anything and to give it a couple of months.

I've just had mine installed and it certainly does'nt look like that! I would suggest you contact Simonis at their wed site and discuss it. They are very helpful and I think will have some concerns over what you have said. Send that pix. Can you get a better shot thats less grainy? Brad

I studied your picture some more and it appears he stretched the cloth for width and stapled it before adjusting for length! The streaks look to be the distance between the staples and I imagine now there is a lot of stess on your cloth from only one direction. Yipes...

O.K. So I guess I should be worried. I have taken more pics at the highest resolution my camera will take. Super Fine. I don't know if this matters but I also got the ultra shield fabric protection as part of my recover package. I don't know if this is a stretching problem or a color variation/folding problem. Here are more pitures. Thanks for all your help.

You could be right and it's visual only, but better safe then sorry. I'd certainly fire these off for an opinion from Simonis.
-Good luck, Brad

I've helped cover two tables in as many years.
While we really just applied common sense (we had no experience) they both came out looking better then the results the "pro" gave you.
If we had those results when we finished,we would have pulled it and started again.
It may get better or "relax" over a few monthes, but there is no reason for it not to look perfect right now imo.
At least my limited experience says it can or should.
Best of luck,

I sent a letter to Simonis (See Below). I want to thank you guys for all your help so far. I feel pretty crappy about the appearance of my table. $867.95 for setup and recover, Dark Green Simonis 860 cloth and ultra shield fabric protection and am told my table is fine and will look better in a couple of months. Thats as far as I can get with Contracted company.
Thanks for the inquiry. I will pass this right on to the president of the
company to look at.

Dear Simonis, Last week I had my 8ft table recovered with Simonis 860 cloth.
I also had the Ultra Shield Fabric Protection. In regards to the Simonis
cloth my Wife and I are not pleased with the overall look and inconsistency
in appearance. I have taken pictures and would like your oppinion. I have
contacted my installer and sent pictures to Champion Billiards through which
the work was contracted. The installer said that on the stretch side of the
table where it doesn't look good the cloth will relax in a couple of months
and look good. When I was in their showroom I saw a table with Simonis cloth
and it did look good. These are my pictures and I have also been asking for
other peoples help on Billiardsdigest.com I included my thread for you to
view. At the suggestion of others I have been told to contact you. Please
help me. Thanks!

$870!!!! Holy carp! That seems awfully expensive. I had one table done with 760 and one with 860. The 860 did show some uneven stretch marks near the side pockets similar to yours. but was mostly due to having to pull a little harder in that area due to the curve (I guess). I agree with the above post indicating that they didn't stretch it to length correctly. I can't see where that is going to get anything but worse over time.
