I didn't know people liked those commercials! I don't like them at all. I always flip the channel, lol.

I am waiting for Al Sharpton to complain that these "Caveman" are somehow references to a minority that pays him or Jesse to complain. /ccboard/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

If it weren't for Dr. Scholl's stuff, I think all the Geico ads are the most asinine on current TV. Hard to believe someone is getting paid to dream up that baloney. It has a negative effect on me. I'd sooner buy Brand X.

I don't know. I trhink they are pretty good but like all ads, they play them to death.

How bout the "Head On" headache commercial!!! That one gets my award for the most annoying of any!

Gayle in Md.

Hate to admit, I kind of like the Little Richard Geico one, but he's always cracked me up!

Curious, Fran, how come you pulled your post? I thought you made a very good observation.

I think you nailed it. The ads are poking fun at a sacred cow It is PC (Politically Correct) to be PC. But in those ads they highlight a fantasy group that's trying to combat a stereotype and not making much headway because - Cavemen are NOT PC. It helps everyone to let off a little steam via humor and to let go of the resentment that builds up around not being able to use racial stereotypes or freely express our latent bigotry for fear of getting busted.

We do live in an age of irony -

Because the music was only significant in one of the commercials. It doesn't account for the popularity of the others. Actually, I think the real hook is the 'Planet of the Apes' effect. I think it's intentional that they look and act remarkably like the apes in those films.
