I just bought a used 9' Brunswick Gold Crown. I plan on picking it up myself. I need ANY info on what I should expect. Really, I would like to know the best way to transport the slate (flat or upright).

MOST DEFINITELY flat! Best to go buy a wood pallet from a lumberyard (cheap - </$10), and lay each piece flat on top of the other. If you can, strap the 3 pieces of slate to the pallet. That way they can't move...or make sure you have some cushioning, or some tie downs, so that the slates don't slide off one another, going around corners, etc.

In addition to what Scott said, take plenty of help. This stuff is very heavy.
