View Full Version : Who here has played the US Bar Table Championship?

I have a few questions:

First, do they put on a good tourney?
How big does the field tend to be?
Is the place heavy with pros?

For the $125 entry and cheap rooms, it sounds like a hoot and I'm considering playing. Hey, I haven't been to Reno lately.

Thanks in advance.

I played it a couple of times a few years back, and a friend of mine has been going the past couple of years to help run the tournament.
There tended to be a lot of very strong players - pros -
usually got about a hundred or more players per tourney, i think.
One of the first times I saw Cory Duell was there. Parica played, too. Not sure who shows these days, but seems some pretty strong players have been winning it.
Lots of side action if you want it. It was fun.

I will check around and see if i can get more current info and post it here later.

It's a strong field. One of our local players finished 7/8 in the 9-ball division last year, but he's pretty good. In local weekly tournaments, he's beaten me about 3 out of every 4 times we've drawn one another.

He got $750 for that finish, out of a couple hundred entries, while 1st got $10,000. The money is heavily weighted toward 1st & 2nd.

On the other hand, it's a hell of a lot of fun for $125. It costs that much to compete in BCA amateur singles in 'Vegas.
