I hope Dubya burns in Hades. That's right. Me...a soldier saying that about his boss. Well, after re-upping in good faith with the command here, being told that doing so will get me out of the deployment and on to another duty assignment, today happened. Specifically, the last hour of today happened. I just found out, about 45 minutes ago that I'll be spending 15 months on an all expense paid vacation of Baghdad. That there are not enough people in my job set to replace me here due to the operations tempo in the Army, and that I'll just have to suck it up and deal with it. For all of you who are nodding your head and agreeing with the "suck it up" mentality, piss off, btw. Yes, I signed up to serve my country. Yes, there are sacrifices involved in this profession. I know and have delt with that my entire 8+ years in the military. But this is kind of out there. I'm not even blaming the command here. They were earnest when they said they would get those of us who re-enlisted for a different duty station out of here pre-deployment. They just neglected to check with DA about it. So Gayle, Q...and all of you Anti-Bushites...you have another loyal follower right here.

Dear Dags.
That SUCKS! I had heard a general say, last night on a news program, that every single person in the army was either in Iraq, or on the way there. I wondered then about you. I can't tell you how sorry I am to know that you're going back there. PM me an address for you, and I can atleast get some goodies over there for you and your unit.

Dags, you are not alone. I don't care how hard this administration works to prop up the facade of troop support for their policies, using uniformed soldiers for photo ops, almost every soldier I have spoken with is anti Bush, Cheney and Rice, and couldn't stand Rumsfeld. I've spoken with a number of them who have hit the wall with this administration, and the situation in Iraq.

We can only hope, that as the Iraqis have voted in Parliament, showing a vast majority wish the US to leave Iraq, NOW, and then promptly announced their decision to go on vacation for months, knowing that the political process will stop, which results in prolonged deployment for soldiers in Iraq, that Americans will stand up and be counted. There are a number of demostrations planned, and I will be there along with many other Americans who represent the true feelings of the vast majority of our soldiers, and will be demanding an end to the American Occupation in Iraq, and impeachment for GWB, et al.

Please stay safe, and know that many of us here are behind each and every one of you there, working to bring you all home yesterday.

Stay in touch, Dags....

Love,
Gayle...really sorry you're going through this. I will be thinking of you every day, friend. Come home safe.
