I'm sure the use of this board to solicit the illegal activity of gambling on a pool game is prohibited.

No, I'm certain I interpreted your post correctly and this is your attempt to side-step what you've done.

ACTION: billiards, pool terms, definition, slang (http://www.billiardsdictionary.com/a_billiards/action_billiards.php).

BigRigTom

Definition straight out of the glossary! This will save the rest of you from looking it up as I did....

Action (n.)
This is any game of pool played with money on the line. You can "put some action" on the game.
I am feeling pretty good tonight, I would like to look for a game with some serious action.

I wonder how many people that play pool regularly actually have a problem with gambling on a game on occasion....I think I learned how play pool while playing for a beer...bought my share too. /ccboard/images/graemlins/cool.gif

As far as I know, this isn't against any rules here, I read the rules for posting here and I guess someone didn't.

Asking for some 'action' is not illegal.

Here is the portion of the rules someone didn't read.

[ QUOTE ]
By using the Cue Chalk Board you agree not to post or transmit any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, profane, hateful, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable material of any kind, including, but not limited to, any material which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, violate the rights of others, or otherwise violate any applicable local, state, national or international law. <hr /></blockquote>

The first phrase in the above paragraph quoted by Tom_In_Cincy shows it violates the Cue Chalk Board rules to post anything unlawful.

dave666 clearly solicits gambling in his original post.

The following shows this action is illegal in the State of Illinois, where the gambling is solicited to take place.

Illinois Gambling Laws (http://www.gambling-law-us.com/State-Laws/Illinois/): read sections 5-2 (b) and Sec. 28-1 (a) (1).

Tom_In_Cincy,

You're probably right about me not reading the CCB rules. And before tonight I'm pretty sure I hadn't read any Illinois statutes either. However, it's all too clear that dave666's original post is in violation of CCB rules and Illinois statute. /ccboard/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I do not call it a speed pool and I offered to play anybody on the planet Earth including Effren Reyes to play a race to 4 One pocket game with a shot clock for 4 seconds, WPBA rules pertaining to the shot clock.I made this anouncement nearly 7 months ago. There were no takers.RajHundal( England) and M.Chamat ( sweeden)started some woofing.I told them that I only believe in getting into action but not into wooffing and if they are serious they can come to corner pocket in Albuquerque, NM if they want to take the title away from me.
So far no takers.I put a time limit to my offer and a week ago my offer expired. /ccboard/images/graemlins/cool.gif

It's time to come out of your Ivory PC world, 1time, and join the real world! Woofing and offers to play for money go on on every Billiards forum on the net. Your extremist
right wing attitude is showing!

I suppose your next subject is going to be Calcuttas with tournaments.

No Snapshot9, it's never a good time to side with those who do wrong, and I'm quite comfortable not doing so. You see, in the "real world" many people support legislation like the two Illinois statutes I sited earlier, and they behave accordingly.

And who but the most out of touch fringe lunatic could possibly think such law abiding citizens are composed primarily of extremist right wingers? Again no Snapshot9, the only political attitude here is the one you demonstrated.

It's irrelevant if this action is legal or illegal in states other than Illinois. The OP solicited gambling to be done in the State of Illinois and so he is bound by Illinois statutes. Statutes from all other states do not apply.

And, the existence of any local ordinance in the State of Illinois is likewise irrelevant. State law trumps local ordinance when there is a conflict between the two, just like federal law trumps state law when in conflict.

I choose my opponents a bit more carefully these days. And someone who demonstrates a reading comprehension problem as you have with this last post, doesn't quite cut it. Are you quite certain I've told anyone what do in this thread?

And by the way, have you figured out yet whether your original post is in violation of Illinois law and the CCB rules? Or perhaps you would prefer just starting another thread (http://www.billiardsdigest.com/ccboard/showflat.php?Cat=&amp;Board=ccb&amp;Number=255410&amp;page=1&amp;v iew=collapsed&amp;sb=5&amp;o=&amp;fpart=1) and crying about it some more.

that is your problem. and i wasnt only talking about this thread. your complaining about people putting $ on pool is all over the board. every time someone says anything about it in rushes 1time to save us all from our demons. like i said, ill be in vegas for to weeks ill make sure im on sahara blvd every night. come on down. i heard that gambling isnt illegal there. is that correct? i understand pinkies is no longer there.

That's quite a rambling brain dump you took there dave666.

<blockquote><font class="small">Quote dave666:</font><hr> just wondering why you police the CCB and not the webmaster. <hr /></blockquote>

Okay, let me know what you get figured out.

<blockquote><font class="small">Quote dave666:</font><hr>but im still coming to vegas. have you made it against the law there yet? <hr /></blockquote>

I am noticing a trend here with some of your posts like this one. It shows you're uncomfortable with me posting about laws that affect the opportunity for you and others to gamble at pool. Most here don't seem to be as troubled about this as you. Apparently gambling at pool is very important to you.

<blockquote><font class="small">Quote dave666:</font><hr>and yes gambling is against the law here. and much like everywhere else in the world we still do it. we try to keep it private. <hr /></blockquote>

Right.... keep it private... on the down low... like everyone does who breaks the law.

Have you forgotten about your first post in this thread and that this is a public board?

<blockquote><font class="small">Quote dave666:</font><hr>if you dont like competative pool that is your problem. <hr /></blockquote>

No, if you must gamble to be competitive, that's your problem. I don't have that problem.

<blockquote><font class="small">Quote dave666:</font><hr>and i wasnt only talking about this thread. <hr /></blockquote>

No, "always trying to tell people what to do" obviosly does not exclude this thread.

<blockquote><font class="small">Quote dave666:</font><hr>your complaining about people putting $ on pool is all over the board. every time someone says anything about it in rushes 1time to save us all from our demons. <hr /></blockquote>

It's always best to side with what is right. You complain about me doing this so that you may continue siding with what is wrong.

Actually I wasn't aware you had a problem with demons, but if my siding with what is right helps you with that, well then... you're welcome.

<blockquote><font class="small">Quote dave666:</font><hr>like i said, ill be in vegas for to weeks ill make sure im on sahara blvd every night. come on down. i heard that gambling isnt illegal there. is that correct? i understand pinkies is no longer there. <hr /></blockquote>

That you could interpret my last post as an attack on your emotions and that you were emotionally hurt by what I last posted, shows how deep seated your emotional attachment is with gambling. No, you've made it all too clear your motives are driven by your desire to gamble. And here's a little common sense that continues to elude you, dave666. It's never wrong to support what is right.

you make me sad. the problem with you is that you think i gamble alot. sorry but i do not. i do every now and then put up or shut up. i believe that there should be a victim for there to be a crime. if you and i was to put anything on anything and are both adults it should be between me and you not someone who wants to control us on their beliefs. the main point is... there are 2 kinds of rules. some you follow because they are morally right and some because others think you should. alot of players gamble because they know nothing else, and would starve if they didn't. some people steal to survive but some would lock them up. so before you judge me like you seem to do, please remember , i do not gamble to keep me happy, but i will do it because it is fun. if you would get off your high horse and join us all in reallity you would most likely stop judging others on what you know only. i believe you and i could have alot of fun on the green beast, but as you said before, you believe i have a gambling problem. that's ok i don't mind, you are free to speak your mind. of course then, so am i. and if you truely think that anything you say hurts me emotionally... no it doesn't. but someone with the ego you seem to have, sure would like to think so. /ccboard/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Wrong again, dave666. I posted about your motives, and did not speculate on the frequency with which you gamble. Your belief that gambling is a victimless crime is irrelevant and it is wrong. I and the many who support anti-gambling laws (including law makers) recognize that gambling harms those who participate and thus it also hurts those who live in that same society. That means your victimless gambling scenario is a complete and baseless sham. Have your opinion all you want; it just doesn't wash. People like you are better off with people like me around because of your short-sighted and failed views. Read up on my point of view if you're truely interested in this. It's as easy as doing a Google search.

<blockquote><font class="small">Quote dave666:</font><hr>the main point is... there are 2 kinds of rules. some you follow because they are morally right and some because others think you should. alot of players gamble because they know nothing else, and would starve if they didn't. some people steal to survive but some would lock them up. so before you judge me like you seem to do, please remember , i do not gamble to keep me happy, but i will do it because it is fun. <hr /></blockquote>

Your view of what rules are for and why others gamble is irrelevant. And your gambling because it is fun is no excuse. You're action of posting the initial post in this thread and your behavior outside of it (by your own admission) is illegal. No one has judged you any more than what you already have agreed to, and there's nothing I posted that suggests otherwise.

"Snapshot9" suggested my joining the real world earlier in this thread. He called it an "ivory PC world" and you called it my "high horse". And so my reply to him applies to you just as well. It's never a good time to side with those who do wrong, and I'm quite comfortable not doing so. You see, in the "real world" many people support legislation like the two Illinois statutes I sited earlier, and they behave accordingly. Again, dave666, you complain about my posts so you may continue siding with what is wrong. And again, it is never wrong to support what is right.

Your intentions are irrelevant because your actions are still illegal and harmful.

<blockquote><font class="small">Quote dave666:</font><hr>tell me 1time,, where do you play? you know where i play all day and all night!so...where do you play? and what do you play? and i still invite everyone (not just you 1time) to daves goodtime billiards to play. i hope it's ok to say "tournament" even though you put up $ to get in one. and sometimes more$ than i would normally put on any game. I'm sure if you look close enough dave666, you'll see these problems as I do. You may even have to do some outside reading. But even that is not likely to be enough. You see, those who can see what is wrong and those who then side against what is wrong are still two very different groups of people. And like I said earlier in this thread, I choose my opponents more carefully these days, and you just don't cut it.

You are correct, and I even go so far as to vote every few years for those who would enact laws that reflect my opinions. However, since Iíve never voted in Illinois, I canít take credit for those attempting to force their opinions on you.

Yes, I truly believe I am right... I referenced the applicable Illinois statutes and you subsequently admitted you violated them.

However, I doubt an Illinois judge would be as free with excusing your behavior as you are of mine.

Irrelevant.

What you believe, how you voted, and whatever else may go on in Illinois does not change the applicable Illinois statutes, your violation of them, and your admission of wrong doing. And your continuing irrelevant efforts to defend yourself indicates your inability to cope with this.
