Players Sports and Family Entertainment in Yauco, Puerto Rico closes its doors:


Players Pool Hall, property of Mr. Fernando Calvo, have closed their doors to the public. The sad news came today via phone conversation with Mr. Calvo. Health issues impede continued operations of the pool hall known as the Home of the 2005 Scorpion Shoot-Out won by Johnny Archer, the 2006 Puerto Rico Shoot-Out also won by Johnny Archer, and the 2007 Puerto Rico Challenge won by John Schmidt, current 2006 US Open Champion. Highly recognized and renowned players from Puerto Rico, The Caribbean, South America and North America have all participated at events in this great pool hall.

Among them, Johnny Archer, John Scmidt, Gabe Owen, Corey Deuel, Tony Robles, Robby Saez, Aaron Franken, Michael Arvelo, Pablo Matheu, Julio Aquino, Alan Rol?n, Edgardo "Puruco" Ramirez, Efrain "Evangelista" Morales, Juan "Pap?n Rodriguez, Eric Gonz?lez, Enrique Montalvo, Luis Cancel, Edwin "Guimo" Garcia, Wilfredo Camacho, among many others.

Mr. Fernando Calvo and Mildred, sons Fernando L. and Carlos wish to express their most sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the wonderful players and fans that supported the events at "Players Sports and Family Entertainment." Events that undoubtedly will become embedded and recognized as part of the "great pool history" of our beautiful Island of Puerto Rico.
