dismantleing a pool table

we are moving so we have to take down my pool table to move it to the new place. the man who was going to take it apart said there is a way to get the cloth off of the slate so that you dont have to replace the cloth.

i watched him put the table together so i know how to take it apart.

i just dont know how to get the cloth off the slate without tearing it. the cloth is pretty high grade and i am hoping to not have to replace it.

anybody know how to do this?

Hey Bluewolf,
I used to work doing this so I might help ya a bit... I'm going to assume that your cloth was stapled in. Usually I was installing cloths and we just pulled the staples just by pulling the cloth, but if you really want to be careful I might suggest that you get a flat head screwdriver and tackle the staples that way... get a friend to help.
---- If the cloth was glued on the table, you should be able to peel it off nicely.

Both glued and stapled???....Never heard of that. Usually it's one or the other. Are you positive you saw them use glue?... you might have seen them using wax on the slate.
