It just so happens... that I know a thing or two about posting pictures! (Who'd a thunkit?)
If it's a picture from a website? Like, for example - this one: http://www.diesel.pp.net.ua/news/2007-02-15-104?iref=rss
If you are using firefox for your browser. Pass your mouse over the picture that interests you and click on your right mouse button. A window will open and you will be presented with a number of choices.
Choose: 'Copy Image Location'
This will save a link to the image. Then come here, open a post and click on 'Image' from the 'Instant UBB Code' group below. When the Image window opens asking you for a URL? Put your mouse cursor over the URL line and click 'paste'. Then press enter. You should now have a line in your post that looks like this:
Notice how the the line now has an HTML opening box in front of it -
[ Image ]
and a closing HTML box at the end [ /Image ]
In the middle is the link that you have copy/pasted.
When you hit the 'preview' button on the post the image that you have selected will show itself like this (if we have both chosen the same image a picture of a cat should appear below):
If you are using Internet Explorer repeat the above steps only in step one choose: Copy this Image URL and then paste it into the Instant UBB Code 'Image' URL line.
You can almost always tell if you've got a picture if the line you copy/paste ends in '.jpg.' or '.gif' or .'png'
Next I will tell you how to upload pix from your PC and put them into a post
Hope this helps.

To post pictures from your PC. You must first upload them to the Net. This requires two simple things.
A. You must know how to locate the picture(s)you want to upload on your PC.
B. You need a free, easy to use upload site to upload your picture(s). As luck would have it - here's one: http://tinypic.com/index.php
The opening page on tinypic.com looks like this:
Once you're there, click on the little window marked: 'choose'.
It will immediately take you to your PC and you will need to point it at the picture you wish to upload. Once you've chosen the image that you want to upload - click on the 'upload now' button.
Once this is done you will be taken to a new page that looks like this:
Choose the second line down - the one that's got this text right above it:
IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards:
Then left click on the 'copy' tab directly to the right of that line. This is essentially the same thing that you are doing when you copy/paste pix off the Net. Only here you are copying the URL of the picture that you've just uploaded.
The good news is that it already has the 'Instant UBB Code' for images attached. So all you need to do is paste it into your post and you're good to go.
Keeping in mind that you might upload a picture that is larger than some people here can bear to cope with - be prepared for some flak if/when this happens.
To deal with picture resizing you must have appropriate graphics software and a few more skills. But, for now, you should be able to get some images into your post when and if you want them.
Hope this helps.

Harry, just out of curiosity, what is that supposed to be - Russian? If so, I could help you a little, comrade.

Not spelled right, but if you were in a room, and I was in a closet, and I said cpaciva, you would hear "Thank You" I had some classes,in Russian about fifty five years ago,and went nuts trying to decline nouns. I appreciate the offer, but if you want a real challenge, check Navajo.English has eight tenses of the verb "To Be" the friging Navajos have twenty eight tenses of the "To Be" verb. Take Greek,Phoenician, and Slave, and create a alphabet, with some letters I have never seen, and I'm gone. I once gave nAz a small list of words,in Chinese,in the event he was ever in a Taiwan club, and wanted to practice his Chinese. The things,I'm doing now, cannot be taught, but must be created. "Imagination is more important than knowledge" quote Albert Einstein.

If I were in a room and you were in a closet and I heard you say 'spassibo', I would have to wonder who else was in the closet.
And while we're on the subject, where did you study Russian fifty-five years ago? Just a coincidence, maybe.
