Somewhere I read about a supply-side theory going wrong when the rich started developing a taste for foreign goods and artisans, causing a shift of the National Treasure to external powers. Oh yea, now I remember, it was in the classic 'The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire" by Edward Gibbon.

That was centuries ago. I'm sure trying it again today will work out much better than it did back then. /ccboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
