The results of his change in our foreign policy, his mantle taken up by the Bush Administration, continues to cost this nation devastating financial consequences.

Most foreign Affairs experts agree, that the Soviet Union's financial collapse would have occured without intervention from our country, along with their failure in AFghanistan.

The Afghan funding behgan under the Carterregime ... as did the Islamic Republic of Iran, which happened to replace a long time US ally. But, you knew that.

Gayle, we did fund Afghanistan under the Carter Presidency.
And as late as 1998,Zbigniew Brzezinski, Carter's National Security Adviser was defending that action....which looked like a good decision at the time, since our main threat was perceived to be the Soviet Union.
Does that justify Iran-Contra, or this illegal war?
Only if you can equate Clinton's lie to Congress about a sexual liaison, with Bush's lies to Congress about Iraq.

True, but what Carter did was a drop in the bucket compared to the way Reagan escalated and expanded it into the Reagan Doctrine.

Mostly Carter's foreign poicy was about human rights, not spreading guns around, or pre-emption, then Hillary came along and added human rights for women and children, all over the world, to our foreign policy.

The Republicans worship Reagan.
To me he did more to destroy the middle class than any other Pres.
He & Bush Sr. let all our businesses go overseas and did their best to bust the unions.

I agree completely. All the hopla over Clinton, while Republican have destroyed the Constitution, and ruined all protections for the American worker.
