We give the people who have more money than they can possibly spend even more money and they will spend it, thereby creating jobs. Wow, what a con job. That's almost as big of a scam as convincing people that an all powerful God needs your money.

it's the trickle down theory...using urinating as a metaphor.....those last few drops...for the poor.

That was my biggest disappointment with Clinton.
How quickly he endorsed NAFTA.
Kind of a trickle up theory.
About the only thing that trickled up was cocaine.

Hondo,
They were bashing Reagan here...you shouldn't bring up the almighty Willie...they don't want to hear things like that.

Gayle went on a posting rampage with all the derigatory links she could find on the republicans today...while overlooking the obvious. We mustn't find fault with the dems...they are the saviors of the country...United Socialists of America.

This country was built on the idea that you can achieve anything you want, if you are willing to work at it. The new idea seems to be you can achieve anything the government wants to allow you to achieve...but if you get too much, they will take it away and give it to those "less fortunate" who never bothered to try working to advance themselves.

Free enterprise is the greatest concept in economics. Work hard and keep what you earn. I have to wonder if part of the reason so many companies have move operations off-shore is because the government can't rob them as easily as they can when they are located here.

Ding!

And oddly left out they halcyon days of JimmuhCahtuh-nomics which resulted in a 21.5% prime, 10% plue UE, the US having to buy bonds repayable in German Marks, a disemboweled military, the installation of Khomeini and numerous other Carter defects we are still fixing today.

It also ignores the effect of Reaganomics which was a huge influx of money into the treasury, followed by an even greater amount of increased spending passed by a DNC controlled congress.

Gayle knows ALL of this.

It just doesn't fit the agenda.

The most effective deception need not contain a lie. Simply deleting all of the INCONVENIENT TRUTHS" is quite effective.

You'd have to ask a republican.

Me too. He should have never signed it, IMO. Was it already in the works when he took office? I heard a professor of economics state that what has made it so devastating to America, is that no one has enforced the basic outline of how it was supposed to work.

yeah Steve, the poor corporations who have to work offshore, so that they don't have to provide their workers with decent working environments, so that they can lock them up in sweltering heat over the weekend and pay them twenty dollars a year, in the Marrianna Islands. So that they can hide their money, tax free, in the Carribbean, pollute the environment and get away with it. Use China to put poison in our food, and lead in our kids toys.

Nice to know that you think corporations are so great, we don't need government to oversee what they're doing.

Free enterprise was never meant to be without oversight, abiding by rules and regualtions to protect the health and safety of workers, and consummers, citizens of our country.

That's our job, we do that with our votes. I will remind you that Reagan, and both Bushes, expanded the Government.

They all claimed to be conservatives. They all left us in recessions, buth may leave us bankrupt. /ccboard/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Which is why the Dems are actually making some headway. True conservatives feel the Republicans have abandoned true conservative ideals in favor of more government. I can't blame the Dems for taking advantage of the situation. Maybe a good slap in the face will make the Republican party understand that the farther to the left they move, the more of their base they lose.

Government is necessary in order to live in a complex society. Holding Representatives of We The People, to some accountability, is necessary in order to provide oversight. Republicans have blocked every effort to do so, and failed to protect our Constitution from Bush's abuse of power.

Had we voted enough Democrats into the congress, and senate, we'd have had the numbers we needed to overturn Bush's vetos, end illegal spying, end illegal torturing, end the abuse of signing statements, and protected our laws, the Constitution, and implimented the proper oversight.

I don't know about you, but when one party is out of control, in spending, corruption, and law breaking, I work to get them out of office, regardless of which party is involved.

Our Constitution is under a severe threat right now, due to George Bush. We all need to study the ways in which he has weakened it. We can't get rid of government, just like we shouldn't get rid of Social Security, or the public school system. Nothing is perfect, but leadership provides us with an opportunity to correct those ineffiencies which must be addressed.

Dividing the country, with religion, and deception, and failing to reach across the isle, is not the way a leader goes about running a country. We should have voted him out of office when we learned that he lied us into a war, and broke our laws.
