Help ! Need to find a Good Pool Hall in New York ?

I'm staying in Manhattan, Midtown at the moment

Very disappointed with what i have found so far

I went to Slate NY and found it was basically a bar with a few pool halls. Catering for the guys who want to drink and shoot crowd. No one there was any good

I'm after a real pool hall, with lots of tables so you can get one easily and where decent pool players hang out

Try amsterdam at 26th and 10th ave, or soho billiards on mulberry st. Slate is horrible, I feel for you.

I think that Amsterdam is probably the first pick but gets VERY crowded sometimes.

If you don't mind riding the tube, go to Hall of Fame Billiards in Brooklyn. It's owned by the parents of all-time great Jean Balukas and she is there much of the time.

They have some 40 year old Gold Crowns and a dozen or so much newer ones. It is rarely crowded and has that "traditional pool hall" feel...rather than the "date bar" feel.
