I just received my "Magicjack" device today. You plug one end into your USB port, plug a phone into the other end, and make unlimited free local and long distance calls for $20 a year.
It cost $50 for the device and the first year of service.

There is some static on the line, it drops the call for a second or two......but for $50, I got the device and one year of calls.
I was satisfied enough to order one for my brother....

You didn't say anything about receiving calls. Does it do that as well? Guess that would mean your computer would need to be on all the time. I'm so sick of Qwest I'm willing to try anything.

It does take calls....with the computer on.
AT&T has many dropped calls from my location......I'll be dropping them in May when the contract is up. I also have Comcast Digital voice which works great...$30 for the first 6 months...and then ????
