What is your aversion to home schooling? I have a friend whose daughter was home schooled her whole life, except when she was 15 and started at the local university. Sure she is an exception but many of the kids I have met who are home schooled are waaaay ahead of their government schooled friends. My niece is home schooled and she is in the same predicament, ahead of her government schooled friends.

It's obvious Eg ... it lessens the power of the state to screw up kids heads with the belief they can't survive without the gubmint.

eg8r, That is wonderful. The schools are crap but keeping talented smart kids out
removes one of the best sources of learning. I started at a one room school in Delaware. Six grades in rows and i got a sixth grade education in three years.
These days who knows? I'm glad for your niece, i wish her success in the future.
Too many home schoolers don't have the means or wish to give a well rounded
education. They lean towards some agenda that leaves out necessary subjects to be able to get into college or university. Meaning to do right by our kids and being able to actually succeed at home schooling don't always meet.
