Hey Folks:
BD managing editor here. I want to pause for a second and urge you to give some love to the 2008 Sang Lee International Open, which is under way right now at the Carom Cafe in Flushing, N.Y. (i.e., Queens), with a massive $125,000 prize fund. The way the billiard industry is idling at the moment, it's a near-miracle that the promoters came up with that much money, which surely will rank among the top domestic purses of the year. And even if you can't generate much enthusiasm for a game without pockets, you still should go to YouTube and look up names like Semih Sayginer and Torbjorn Blomdahl and Miguel Torres. It's a beautiful game, guys.
FYI: The Carom Cafe's site itself is pretty cool, and has a link to the tournament site.
