with apologies to Steve, in advance....(although they were fined heavily in NC for letting hazardous material stacked in their lots, run off and pollute the local drinking water supply...where's Myra Breckinridge, now that we need her)
I watched a movie, a documentary, on "On Demand" last nite, about
Wal Mart. Besides their ruthless business practices , their "abuse" of their employees, and how they have affected, (lowered), wages, etc....it also covered what happens at the supply end of their business.
Chinese workers are on the job 7 days a week, 12 to 15 hours a day, for the equivalent of $3 a day. It's even worse in some other countries, where the workers are charged rent, and utilities whether or not they stay in the factory dorms (no utility bills if they don't sleep there)...
Talks by the Wal Mart CEO were interspersed with the realities of working for the company, by former "associates"....
You are expected to complete your job each day....and Wal-Mart does not pay overtime....which means you work for free after the reg shift.
The guys name is Scott Lee...no, wait it's Lee Scott.
He was bragging about how he saved the company $200 on his hotel bill $ he earns $27 m
What a pos company....but as the narrator said, Sam Walton would not approve of the way the company is run today
