From Marsha Blackburn of the 7th District of Tennessee. Interesting!

As I said yesterday, the public concern about H.R. 3962 is growing. So much so that many Americans are on their way to Washington to participate in a "House Call" on Thursday afternoon. From all over the country, people are coming to let Speaker Pelosi know that they are opposed to her massive new health care bureaucracy. If you can make it to Washington, you should. If you are already coming to Washington, please let me know. The event will begin at Noon on the Capitol steps.

Since this bill is more tax bill than health care bill, I thought we could take a page from the Tennessee Income Tax debate. If you can't make it to Washington for the House Call, lets join together in expressing our opposition to this bill by honking our horns at 11:00 AM Central Time. If you are willing to take this action, reply to this e-mail and let me know that as well.

In the meantime, we have pulled together a list of all of the new Federal boards, bureaucracies, commissions, and programs created in H.R. 3962. It is staggering.

How could anyone not love a bill that empowers 111 new gubmint bureaucracies?

I believe that at least some of these inclusions are already being addressed by current Federal agencies, specifically all the ones dealing with Indians, and Child Abuse. Many of the others sound necessary to me, and some will probably be merged, or excluded. I doubt this is a final draft, but I agree it reads like bureaucrat-ese
hopefully, if they ever get this ship launched, it will float
( I remember a course I was taking that included a chapter on ship building in Italy.....first photo the crowds were cheering wildly, next one a pop of the Champagne bottle and the ship goes rolling down the skids, then a photo of it in the water upright....just before it rolls over in the last photo. Seems they had made a slight miscalculation about ballasting it and it's stability, (oops, off topic, again)
Hope this plan is better thought out and a little more stable then the above,... and has some built in safeguards to prevent the kind of medicare billing fraud $84b, that should have sent Jeb Bush to prison

I just don't see why they would not have taken this opportunity to do some real health care reform instead of making it a typical mish mash of free spending initiatives to benefit the individual senators and congressmen in their districts. If they had the couorage to not allow lobbiests on either sdie to write this it would not be approaching 2,000 pages and someone would actually be able to read it before signing.

Not many of us just wanted it to be left alone but jumping into this mess was the last thing a susposedly transparent administration should have wanted. It happens every time, with one side getting power and going way too far into the extream.

I have to agree with you there.
In my short "career" in the Maritime industry, we had free health care centers in every major port, free for active members and for retirees; I thought I was set for life....probably why they cut the fleet in half though, almost overnite, and the big shipping companies went "foreign flag". Our Coast Guard safety requirements, and safety inspections, were also a major annoyance for them.
I also had great coverage on one job, with Kaiser Permanente, begun by old Henry J. ...straying agin...but at the onset of WWII, within 6 months Kaiser steel had begun building ships, a major factor in enabling us to supply our troops, and win the war. These Victory class ships had a life expectancy of 6 months, thanks to U-Boats, and bombs. I worked under a Chief engineer that had 2 ships sunk from under him on the same day. The first one was sunk, and the survivors picked up by the second .
We switched to Blue Cross/Blue Shield, but they priced me out after retiring..seems they don't like to insure seniors....
There's an idea....high risk drivers have their names placed in a risk pool, and companies are required to insure them...why not something similar for H.I. companies...then some of these pool players that have " no heart ", could get a free transplant...lol

I don't see anything in there about bridges to no where

No $4,000.00 toilet seats.

No multi trillion dollar, un-necessary foreign invasions of countries that never attacked us, either.

Too bad, that we are stuck in Bush's multi trillion dollar Middle East Fiascos, with all the multi trillion dollar costs, and his foreign Trade deficits, and domestic deficit, or we'd be in a much better position to pay for Bush's multi trillion dollar war deficit, and dig our way out of Bush's multi trillion dollar depression, much faster.
