View Full Version : Taste of things to come?

We now have a government "advisory panel" recommending that mamography is not necessary for women from 40 to 50, and only every two years thereafter. This is counter to the recommendations of the independent American Cancer Society recomendations.

So I'm listening to a nurse on the radio this afternoon saying that the nnumber of lives that would be saved by having testing between 40 and 50 do not justify the cost. Let me repeat that...the number of lives saved do not justify the cost!

Is this the first example of a government "advisory panel" telling us how we should manage our personal healthcare? Are they starting to do cost/benefit analysis on the benefits of preventive healthcare? Have they put a price on those lives that might have been saved? Does this lay the groundwork for rationing of healthcare?

Is this the direction we want our country moving??????????
