PORTLAND, Maine - Maine police are searching for a maximum-security inmate who was mistakenly released from the county jail.

The confusion occurred Wednesday at the Cumberland County jail when someone arrived to bail out 20-year-old Ismail Mohamed Awad, whose bail had been set at $240.

The Portland Press Herald reports that a correctional officer asked that "Ismail" be brought to the front. Officers brought forward 23-year-old Ahmed Hussein Ismail and released him. He had been charged with robbery and aggravated reckless conduct with a gun.

Was this man a citizen of the US? If so, why was this case described, when this does happen, escapes from county jails, that is. Or was the reason for highlighting this particular case, because of the Muslim Name?

What does this have to do with the possibility (slim to nill?) of a convicted terrorist escaping from a Federal Prison.


Do you agree, convicted foreign terrorists incarcerated in our Federal Maximum Security Prison system, would likely receive increased oversight to our average, American grown Criminals?

Sad, but true....The Maximum Security effort, and continued efforts to close GITMO, seems to me the right way to go for a range of reasons.
