Here's a NYC couple that managed to pick up this closet sized Co-0p "apt", all 175 sq. ft., for a song, plus $150k. I was thinking that maybe their elevator didn't go to the top floor, and turns out it doesn't. It stops on the 15th and they live on the 16th floor.
$150k (http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/cozy_crazy_couple_makes_tight_studio_R15ToNFTaJE3c 17zkw4efP)

It used to be a rule of thumb that the price of a home you buy should be about the same as your annual salary. I don't know if anyone goes by that any more, but that kind of money for little more than a broom closet seems a bit high to me. But then, I live in North Carolina, so I guess I don't know much about prices of things in the "real world".

Also probably don't own a car, and work in the vacinity, have to either walk, or pay for a cab to get to work every morning, and are thrilled with their new abode.

Some Americans don't have sense enough to understand that famous quote....

"Under the conditions prevailing"

Who said that?
