What the Bible says about Prayer -- wiki -- Matthew 6:5-6
...............And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

What the Bible says about Democracy -- wiki...

Luke 19:12-27
He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.... But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.... But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

Numbers 16:1-35
Now Korah...and Dathan and Abiram...and On...rose up before Moses, with...250 princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?...And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment...And it came to pass...that the ground clave asunder that was under them: And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and ... they, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation.

Jeremiah 10:23
O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/michelle_bachman_welfare_queen_20091221/
Posted on Dec 22, 2009

By Yasha Levine

Michele Bachmann has become well known for her anti-government tea-bagger antics, protesting health care reform and every other government “handout” as socialism. What her followers probably don’t know is that Rep. Bachmann is, to use that anti-government slur, something of a welfare queen. That’s right, the anti-government insurrectionist has taken more than a quarter-million dollars in government handouts thanks to corrupt farming subsidies she has been collecting for at least a decade.

And she’s not the only one who has been padding her bank account with taxpayer money.

........compiled from federal records by Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit watchdog that tracks the recipients of agricultural subsidies in the United States, shows that Bachmann has an inner Marxist that is perfectly at ease with profiting from taxpayer largesse. According to the organization’s records, Bachmann’s family farm received $251,973 in federal subsidies between 1995 and 2006. The farm had been managed by Bachmann’s recently deceased father-in-law and took in roughly $20,000 in 2006 and $28,000 in 2005, with the bulk of the subsidies going to dairy and corn. Both dairy and corn are heavily subsidized—or “socialized”—businesses in America (in 2005 alone, Washington spent $4.8 billion propping up corn prices) and are subject to strict government price controls. These subsidies are at the heart of America’s bizarre planned agricultural economy and as far away from Michele Bachmann’s free-market dream world as Cuba’s free medical system. If American farms such as hers were forced to compete in the global free market, they would collapse.

However, Bachmann doesn’t think other Americans should benefit from such protection and assistance. She voted against every foreclosure relief bill aimed at helping average homeowners (despite the fact that her district had the highest foreclosure rate in Minnesota), saying that bailing out homeowners would be “rewarding the irresponsible while punishing those who have been playing by the rules.” That’s right, the subsidy queen wants the rest of us to be responsible.

Bachmann’s financial disclosure forms indicate that her personal stake in the family farm is worth up to $250,000. They also show that she has been earning income from the farm business, and that the income grew in just a few years from $2,000 to as much as $50,000 for 2008. This has provided her with a second government-subsidized income to go with her job as a government-paid congresswoman who makes $174,000 per year (in addition to having top-notch government medical benefits). “If she has an interest in a farm getting federal subsidy payments, she is benefiting from them,” Sandra Schubert, director of government affairs for the Environmental Working Group, told Gannett News Service in 2007, when the subsidies to Bachmann were first publicly disclosed.

But Bachmann isn’t the only welfare recipient on Capitol Hill. As it turns out, there is a filthy-rich class of absentee farmers—both in and out of Congress—who demand free-market rules by day and collect their government welfare checks in the mail at night, payments that subsidize businesses that otherwise would fail. Over the past couple of decades, welfare for the super-wealthy seems to be the only kind of welfare our society tolerates.

In the 11 years for which the Environmental Working Group has compiled data, the federal government paid out a total of $178 billion to American farmers. We’re not talking about the Joads here. The bulk of subsidies go to the wealthy, not small farmers, as Ken Cook, the group’s president, explained to the Central Valley (Calif.) Business Times:

American taxpayers have been writing farm subsidy checks to wealthy absentee land owners, state prison systems, universities, public corporations, and very large, well-heeled farm business operations without the government so much as asking the beneficiaries if they need our money. ... Even if you live smack in the middle of a big city, type in a ZIP code and you’ll find farm subsidy recipients. </div></div>

Iraq was the bail out for the arms industry.
The banks and financial sector got their money back....from the Govt.
Now the H.C Ins industry has got their share of the pie.

What is the agenda from the Right?.........

Mo Money for them!!! ...just none for any poor, needy, etc, and f*** all, don't even mention health care....let em die in the streets,if they can't afford medical ins. Works well in India!!!
The example from a few years ago, that I remember....a Doctor, who lived and practiced in a large city, was given a subsidy for growing tress, and another for not growing cotton ('cause when them cotton balls get rotten...) I don't think he ever visited his "farm"....and he wouldn't know the difference between "till the soil", and being caught with your hand in the till
They have bastardized "noblesse oblige" into...the rich should have special privileges...
they decry the unfair and unjust imprisonment, of the Bernie Madoff's, Ken Lay's, and Leona Helmsley's of this world, believing that in Bernie and Ken's case...it was the failure of their investor's to do "due diligence", and therefore as lww is prone to say....they made victims of themselves. In his world they should be the ones going to jail for stupidity.
The true meaning of that term ...can be found in Luke 12:48:
"For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more."
Howard Hughes made a fortune before he turned 25; enough money to retire on, and spend the rest of his life turning Hollywood "Starlets" into concubines....but he believed that the greatest thing that wealth can bring, is the ability to provide meaningful employment for others. Were he alive today, with that same belief, he would soon go broke as In today's brave new world.... things "nowadays are made in Japan"....actually now even Japan is being flooded with goods made by even cheaper labor, including the forced labor of children.
The real God nowadays is $$$, and their church, the nearest bank.

I'm a big fan of Ms. Vandenheuvel. In these two paragraphs she has represented my personl views about the politics of the dangerous RW radical, religious right.

I couldn't agree more with her assessment.

Although few speak of it, the ideology of White Supremicists is their base, and dangers which are evident, and encouraged by people like Bachman, Beck, O'Reilly, and for that matter, most of the Republican party...including Palin, who makes statements about the "Real America" and continues to lie, and use the politics of fear, for which Republicans are famous.

Watched a special about the KKK over the weekend, still a southern force, dangerous, full of hatred, racism, and a threat to everything which our country has accomplished to remove, and discourage, the sickness of racism.

When the KKK participants were interviewed, much of what they were saying, could have come straight from some of our most ill RW participants on this forum.

Amazing, how people who present themselves as Christians, also belong to an organization like the KKK.

Goes right along with the signage which Republican leaders ignored, and later denied having even seen, at Bachman's little "Parties" in Washington D.C. The signs were right in front of their noses, so just the usual lies from Republicans.

I am very concerned about the RW radicals in this country. There is far too much religion based hatred and divisiveness, and far too many of the RW media who contribute to the subtle call to arms and violence.

Very disturbing, and very wrong.
