As I mentioned in a previous thread, I broke down and ordered one of these:


Today I received an email from Ed Mercier noting that it had shipped, so look for a review from me in a few days. I'll supply some close-up photos of the workmanship as well as my own opinions about the craftsmanship and playability. If it's as nice as Ed says, it's quite a value for the price. Too bad I'm shooting so well with the Jacoby these days, as it will be tough to switch.

Forgot to mention - since I already had this order coming, I decided to throw in one of Ed's "pocket lathe" gadgets. On the surface, it seems like a decent idea. A set of non-motorized rollers that you rest the shaft in while shaping a tip, spinning the shaft by rolling your hand over it. Anyway, I'll see how difficult it is to get proficient with this gadget and then give it a review as well.
