View Full Version : Huh?: #21 of Ray Martin's 99 Critical Shots
Was the diagram in shot #21 drastically oversimplified for ease of reading it? Most of these shots don't go anywhere near the 15 diamond. I understand that it's no big deal because players have to discover the shots for themselves, but I was surprised at how simplified this one was.

Obviously they would not, meaning the diagram is not well constructed, but keep in mind that the balls are much bigger than life-size. The dotted lines indicating the paths of the cue ball with the various running and holding english strokes are intended to be the thrust of the drawing, if you can ignore the relative positions of the balls and consider only the angle of the cue ball coming off the OB and hitting diamond fifteen.

I believe that the dotted lines actually show the path of the center of the CB and this path goes between diamonds 14 and 15. Try stroking softer. And it also depends on how much of the OB you hit. Jake
