<font color=green>[b]Inside Pool Magazine is reporting that Efren Reyes defeated Mika Immonen at the Challenge of Champions held at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Ct.

Reyes defeated Neils Feijen and Hsiao-Lang Fang to get to the finals while Immonen defeated Satoshi Kawabata and Steve Knight en route to the finals. Both players won one set leading to a sudden death game to determine the winner. Although Immonen won the lag and made a ball on the break, he was unable to close out the rack and let Reyes to the table to close out the rack for the win.

Reyes pockets $50,000 in this winner-take-all event. Full match results and game-by-game report of the finals are available on the Inside Pool website.

Game 1

Reyes breaks, makes the 1 ball and gets perfect on the 2 ball. He has a ways to travel to get on the 3 ball, so he cinches the 2 ball. He cuts the 3 ball in and travels up and down to get on the 4 ball. He sets perfect, but gets out of line on the 7 ball. He plays a great saftey, hiding Immonen. Mika hits the 7, but gives Efren a shot. Efren runs the 7,8, and 9 balls. 1-0 Reyes

Game 2

Mika breaks, comes up dry and leaves Efren a long 1 ball. Efren misses it, but slops it in the other corner. He gets perfect on the 2 ball. He gets on the wrong side of the 3 and cinchs it for the 4 ball. He makes a great shot on the 4 and travels four rails aroud the table for the 5 ball. He runs the remaining balls out. 2-0 Reyes

Game 3

Efren breaks, makes the 1 ball in the side and gets a bad shot on the 2 ball. He banks and slops it in the corner, getting perfect on the 3 ball. He runs the rest of the balls out. 3-0 Reyes

Game 4

Mika breaks, makes the 1 ball in the side and can't see the entire 2 ball. Mika plays safe but allows Efren to see it. Efren plays safe by splitting the balls and putting them on opposite end rails. Mika plays a two-way shot, misses and leaves Efren long. efren takes a flyer, misses and leaves Mika a 2-3 combo. Mika makes the combo but gets bad position. Mika makes the bank and goes 4 rails for poositionm on the 4 ball. He gets in line and runs out. 3-1 Reyes

Game 5

Reyes breaks, comes up empty and eaves Mika a shot on the 1 ball. Mika makes it and gets funny on the 2 ball. He two rails the 2 ball into the side pocket playing a two-way. He pockets the 3 ball and gets in line for the run out. Mika runs out. 3-2 Reyes

Game 6

Mika breaks, makes three balls but gets lousy position with his cue in the corner and the 4 ballk on the opposite rail. Mika plays a great safe. Efren hits it and only allows Mika to see a piece of it. Mika plays safe. Efren makes the long shot, makes it and gets a kiss off of the 6 ball into a bad position. Efren plays safe. Mika misses the shot and lucks the 5 ball in. He gets position on the 6 ball and runs out the rack. 3-3

Game 7

Reyes breaks, makes the 6 ball and gets a thin cut on the 1 ball. He makes the 1 and breaks out the 2 ball. He makes the 2 and gets on the three. He works the 4 ball into position and safes himself on the way to the 5 ball. He masses the cue to make the 5 ball. Makes the 6 but gets a bank on the 8 ball. He misses the bank and leaves Mika a shot. Mika buries it and gets perfect on the 9 ball. 4-3 Mika

Game 8

Mika breaks, makes three balls and gets a shot on the 2 ball. He makes the 2 and gets out of line on the 3 ball. He makes the 3 ball and gets back in line on the 5 ball. Mika runs out. 5-3 Mika wins the first set!



Second Set

Game 1

Reyes breaks, makes the 1 ball in the side and gets a bad shot on the 2 ball. Efren lays down a great saftey. Mika hits the 2 ball but sells out. Efren gets in line and runs out. 1-0 Reyes

Game 2

Mika breaks, makes three balls and scratches. Efren takes ball in hand and runs out but forgets to call the 9 ball. Referee Steve Tipton respots the 9 and Mika pockets it. 1-1

Game 3

Reyes breaks, makes a ball and gets a shot on the 1 ball. He pockets the 1,3 and 4 balls. He plays a 5-7 carom but gets funny on the 5 ball. Hehangs the 5 ball. Mika runs out. 2-1 Mika

Game 4

Mika breaks, makes four balls and is left with a 3-9 combo. He misses the combo and leaves Efren a combo. Efren makes the combo and gets in line. Efren runs out. 2-2

Game 5

Reyes breaks, makes three balls includong the 9 ball. It gets respotted and Efren banks at the 2 ball. Efren misses and leaves Mika an easy run out. 3-2 Mika

Game 6

Mika breaks, makes two balls and gets a great shot on the 1 ball. Mika runs out to the 5 ball and scratches. Efren makes the 6 ball and then makes a 7-9 combo. 3-3

Game 7

Reyes breaks, makes two balls and doesn't get a shot on the 2 ball. Efren plays a thin cut, misses and leaves Mika a hard shot. Mika makes the 2-8 combo and gets position on the 2 ball. Mika stays in line and runs out. 4-3 Mika

Game 8

Mika breaks, makes three balls but doesn't end up with a good shot. He makes the 3-4 combo, but ends up with a bad shot again. Mika plays safe by knocking the 3 ball to the end rail. Efren banks the 3 ball in and gets perfect on the 5 ball. Efren runs out and calls the 9 ball. 4-4

Game 9

Reyes breaks, makes thre balls, almost scratches and hangs the 3 ball. Efren makes the 3 but gets out of line on the 5-7 combo. He makes the combo and gets bad on the 5 ball. He cuts the 5 ball along the bottom rail and goes down table for the 6 ball. He over hits the 7 and has a thin cut on the 9 ball. Efren cuts the 9 down the rail and the crowd shows their appreciation. 5-4 Efren wins the second set.

The players relag and Mika wins the lag.

Final Game

Mika breaks, makes a ball and gets a shot on the 1 ball. He makes it and gets on the 2 ball. He gets underneath the 3 ball and plays position for the 4 ball. He plays the 4 ball and the seven and cue travel down table together, snookering Mika from the 5 ball. Mika hits the 5 ball and sells out. Efren makes the 5 ball and gets perfect. Efren wins!!!

So, anybody thinks this Reyes fella is any good? My personal opinion is that he's at least a B+/A- player/ccboard/images/icons/tongue.gif.

Kato~~~knows that rating systems don't even apply to Efren. I think they run out of plus's.

Reyes would be a 5 star player, no A's or plus' would be suffice!
