This happened just a few miles away from my sister's house(off of Parmer Lane.) Sis's first reply to me when I called her right after the news hit, was that THAT building was right near her son's school. It's a small world. sid

I just heard on the news that the pilot of the plane set fire to his house before he left for the airport.

We may never get the whole story, but it sounds like possibly the plane crash wasn't an accident.

you really are "quick on the uptake" ....amazing how you were able to put 2 and 2 together...and then come up with that "Report"
I'm sure the rest of us were thinking he was so worried about his house burning down, that he decided to go for a "spin" and then became disorientated.....
Good thing we have you to "cut to the chase".....
Unfortunately, in this case...some other edukaterr, already reported on the news that the two events were probably no coincidence......

All of the listening I did in real time today from CNN from the onset, told me it wasn't an accident. At the same time, I knew it wasn't terrorism unless it was DUMB terrorists. WhoTF could miss an entire FBI building? I ain't lying...I considered the IRS as a target, since my taxes go to Austin. Most of these things don't require much more than common sense. Having said that, common sense ends quickly when "magic bullets" and WMDs in Iraq are forced upon us. Magic bullet, give me a fuc!ing big break. That's another argument though, and yet the common sense is an important factoid for all to be open minded about.

All of this was a really sad American soul, grown wrongly from over 2 total losses of personal wealth. Bush's greed and criminal work was this guy's worst enemy. The guy was just beat to hell and bent way out of shape, and lost it! It is really sad to even try and empathize with this man's ending situation.

Let's just hope that this is NOT just the beginning of more bizarre actions. Remember reading about the Great Depression? sid

UPDATE: The pilot, Joseph Andrew Stack, left an online suicide note. He was angry at the IRS.

The note is a rant against bankers, accountants, politicians, the IRS, and "monsters of organized religion." Stack, an engineer who worked in aviation, says he ran into business troubles after a Reagan-era IRS ruling that changed the way he could account for freelance income, and goes on to tally various business and financial failures, almost all of which he blames on government collusion with big business:

Years later, after weathering a divorce and the constant struggle trying to build some momentum with my business, I find myself once again beginning to finally pick up some speed. Then came the .COM bust and the 911 nightmare. Our leaders decided that all aircraft were grounded for what seemed like an eternity; and long after that, ‘special' facilities like San Francisco were on security alert for months. This made access to my customers prohibitively expensive. Ironically, after what they had done the Government came to the aid of the airlines with billions of our tax dollars … as usual they left me to rot and die while they bailed out their rich, incompetent cronies WITH MY MONEY! After these events, there went my business but not quite yet all of my retirement and savings.

His last straw was a disastrous IRS audit that he says cost him his retirement savings, and which he blames on his accountant. The note is a populist rant, and concludes with a line from the Communist Manifesto:

The recent presidential puppet GW Bush and his cronies in their eight years certainly reinforced for all of us that this criticism rings equally true for all of the government. Nothing changes unless there is a body count (unless it is in the interest of the wealthy sows at the government trough). In a government full of hypocrites from top to bottom, life is as cheap as their lies and their self-serving laws.

[snip]

I can only hope that the numbers quickly get too big to be white washed and ignored that the American zombies wake up and revolt; it will take nothing less. I would only hope that by striking a nerve that stimulates the inevitable double standard, knee-jerk government reaction that results in more stupid draconian restrictions people wake up and begin to see the pompous political thugs and their mindless minions for what they are. Sadly, though I spent my entire life trying to believe it wasn't so, but violence not only is the answer, it is the only answer. The cruel joke is that the really big chunks of shit at the top have known this all along and have been laughing, at and using this awareness against, fools like me all along.

I saw it written once that the definition of insanity is repeating the same process over and over and expecting the outcome to suddenly be different. I am finally ready to stop this insanity. Well, Mr. Big Brother IRS man, let's try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well.

The communist creed: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

The capitalist creed: From each according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed.

According to a White House pool report, Barack Obama was briefed on the attack this afternoon, and the White House is not calling it terrorism:

gibbs says potus briefed by brennan on austin plane incident at 12:35. says homeland security investigating all angles. does NOT appear to be terrorism.
taxiing now. more briefing later.

Two people are reported missing, and witnesses describe an enormous explosion. The plane is reported to be a Piper Cherokee 140, and cable newsers are speculating that it's unlikely that such a plane could produce an explosion of that size without the aid of additional fuel or explosives onboard.

The plane hit the Echelon building in Austin. Witnesses say it was flying low and fast and appeared to be in control.

UPDATE: Joseph Andrew Stack is the registered owner of a Piper Cherokee (otherwise known as a Piper P28), which is the model that witnesses say crashed into the building. It was originally registered in California, where, according to public databases, he used to live"

Summing it all up for you....Bush is to blame !!!!!

The silence is deafening. You would have thought a home grown terrorist attacking the IRS with a WMD would have the RW in a tizzy.

I think they are dazed by a real act of violence and too stupefied to comment...unlike the boasting of how they would handle the current wars, and solve the economic crisis.....if only

I guess you probably don't want to hear how this guy hated Bush, and was pretty much of a left wing nutjob, so I won't make you uncomfortable by pointing it out to you.

And this is just one of Bush's many victims! Just try to imagine all of the others in his wake, homes gone, savings gone, no insurance against catestrophic illnesses.

The Free Market in this country is really a free for all for the wealthy.

This is a sad story, one out of many many more that result from Republican VOODOO economics!
