Google " carlos slim" and contribute to George Bush, and you'll maybe get a hint at how this guy got rich. Bush attracted crooks. sid

Carlos Slim? Sounds like a card player from Jersey. I think he owns the NYTimes now. Recon we can get him to finance me and you on a world pool tour for old guys?

DeeWoman has talked me into one of those lame Carribean cruises for our 10th anniversary in May. Geesh! I am not looking forward to that. All I need is 10 days on a floating germ factory with a casino 24/7 and all the food I can eat. This after losing 30 lbs in the last two months. This will, of course, break my sacred oath not to get anywhere within 100 miles of Miama in the remainder of my lifetime but how can I turn down the women who sleeps next to me with a gun under her pillow? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I have heard more people from Alabama fall off cruise ships than any other state. Most are on thier honeymoon but some may just be drinking a wee too much. I asked her, "Are there not airports still in Nassau that we could just fly into?" She didn't speak to me this morning!

Send me a guide to Yankee women, quick!!

aw, yer gonna love it......shuffleboard, Bingo, what's not to like?
We used to go to the Caribbean every year, in January....for "Operation Springboard"....Puerto Rico, The Virgin Islands, and a side trip to the Bahamas, to take advantage of the duty free liquor. I think I'm burnt out on the Caribbean.....
Hope you don't accidentally book the wrong cruise...like in "Boat Trip"....watch out for them Swedish Tanning teams....they might tag team you....

I'm pretty sure that's the guy I won a pot off with 9 high in my hand. As the table had been playing (shorthanded) and hyper aggro, I was big blind with 9-4 off suit. It limped around and I checked. Board came big whole way, I check-called to the river. At which point I bet out an apparent value bet... to my shock one guy raised, and the next 3 bet. I evaluated, and realized my 9 high had to be best (I'll tell you how in more detail later). So I just called, and was right all along. Only time I ever showed down 9 high, and likely only time I ever will. But when ya got bad players around /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Sack--- p.s. bad players were ALL around if even the winner was willing to go the distance with 9 high /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Gee, Deeman, I'm beginning to think you and I are more alike everyday.

I hate cruises! Can't stand being on any boat, with no control, and confined to a limited area.

When I was cruising on a friend's 75 foot yacht in the Bahamas Eluthras and Exumas, a few years ago, and those big cruise ships went by, I looked up and thought, those poor folks are actually slumming through this wonderland.

There are some gorgeous yachts available for chartering, docked in Nassau, or even right out of FT. Lauderdale, or Key West.

Not really that expensive, either, if you want a private time together. Or charter with another couple or two, friedns of yours, a nice ninety foot yacht isn't bad at all price wise, and they will stock all your favorite foods and drinks.

That way, you can spend a day or two in the crowded glitz, like Atlantis, and still get back out and enjoy nature and the beauty of sea creatures all around, and the fun of putting on some flippers and a mask, and (Gee, I'm almost afraid to say it) a snorkel, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif and really being one with nature. Just go before the end of June....June is the best month to be cruising in those waters.

Couldn't pay me to take another cruise on a big cruise ship! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Gayle, that's ok, as neither does he...NOBODY wins with 9 high, not in the long history of poker...not since Cleo played Mark, for the oil rights to Egypt.
J.P. Getty used to ride the trains, and play high stakes poker, and winning the oil rights, doing that...was the basis of his fortune.....seems that land used to be just for growing cotton, and wasn't considered worth much anymore....but that was just before Al Gore invented the Automobile....(or so I've read)

Slim would destroy me.

Sure they do. I may even still have the screencaps from it somewhere around here.

IIRC, board was 10-J-8-K-A by the end (open ended straight draw was my reason for staying in the pot to begin with). I wind up missing, and plan to bluff at the river. The extra raises were fishy, because as the table had been playing all night, the players in the hand would have raised preflop with any face cards or any pocket pair. I knew they couldn't have an 8 also from the way they bet their hands. The only logical hands that made sense was that they were either firing with air or bluffing a busted draw like me. So I figured at worst I'd be seeing a split pot here. I was right, and my 9 played and won.
