RECORD NUMBER OF BLACK GOP CANDIDATES GATHER for SUMMIT IN WASHINGTON
By HHR | March 18th, 2010 | Category: General, HHR Contributors, Politics |

(Washington, DC) – Black Republican Congressional candidates will gather today and tomorrow in Washington to express their disapproval of the current liberal agenda of President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, as they prepare to be a part of a historic election year that will see the Republican Party possibly take back the House and Senate this November. As of today, there are thirty-one congressional Black Republican candidates that are actively campaigning throughout the United States this election cycle, a number that rivals Reconstruction-era Black Republican activism. More than half of these candidates will participate in the 2nd Annual Frederick Douglass Foundation Leadership Summit starting today in Washington, DC. Included in this historic number of black Republican candidates are three candidates for US Senate. Black Republicans consisting of active candidates, elected party officers, and prominent grassroots activists will gather in Washington, DC for a summit with other noted Republican elected officials, party officers and organizational leaders at a weekend event hosted by the Frederick Douglass Foundation, a surging black Republican organization started by Dr. Tim Johnson, Vice-chairman of the North Carolina GOP.

“We are committed Christians, proud Black Americans, and active Republicans,” states Johnson who co-founded the Frederick Douglass Foundation with Dean Nelson of the Network of Politically Active Christians and Troy Rolling, also a vice-chairman for the GOP at the state level in Michigan.”African Americans are proud of President Barack Obama but many are disenchanted with his policies and are beginning to look at candidates that better reflect their views and interests,” said Dean Nelson, Vice Chairman of the Frederick Douglass Foundation. “We are proud to host this historic event with so many congressional candidates.”

This weekend’s summit will host about 100 attendees from around the country. The event will feature a congressional candidates’ forum from 1:30pm-4pm (EST) on Thursday afternoon and will be followed by a private reception at the Capitol Hill Club. Republican leaders to address the Foundation’s 3-day summit include RNC Chairman Michael Steele. The rest of the weekend will feature perspectives given by Republican leaders including Congressman Trent Franks (AZ- 2nd) and Congressman Thad McCotter (MI-4th) as well as panel discussions by elected officials and prominent Foundation members. The panel discussions will cover issues ranging from health care and “defining Black conservatism.” Workshops for participants on fundraising and grassroots organizing are also part of the summit’s agenda.

The weekend event will conclude with a dinner reception with Mr. Ken Morris, the great, great, great grandson of Frederick Douglass and great, great, grandson of Booker T. Washington.

NOTE: Members of the media are welcome to attend the summit. For interviews and photography opportunities please contact Dean Nelson at 770-294-1047

If Tiger ran he could win the Woman's vote. There's a danger that he would run Air Force 1 into a tree.

LMAO, republicans are so subtle, ha ha ha, they've had three blacks in congress in all of history, recently tried to throw a Hail Mary Pass with Palin, that didn't work, tried to put a black face on the RNC, that hasn't worked out too well, either, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif ...lol....

Nothing is funnier than trying to imagine all those Tea Partiers, their base, rushing out to vote for black Republican candidates, BWA HA HA HA....the more they try to cover up their past, the funnier they get. they're in a box, and still hammering in the nails!

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Sometimes I think that they think the rest of us have amnesia! BWA HA HA HA.

You really should research the stuff that is spoon fed to you by the party.

The republicans have had 3 black US senators ... starting in 1870.

The democrats have also had 3 ... the first wasn't until 1993. The second was Obama, and the third was scandal ridden Roland Burris.

In the house had 22 black members, starting in 1868, while the democrats didn't have their first black representative until 1935.

I'm assuming you have also witnessed the tragedy that liberal politicians have inflicted upon minority and poor white American families?

In the earliest days the congress was almost exclusively white because the democratic party fought to maintain slavery.

Hmmmmmmm

Seems to me the democrat party was the party of slavery and the party against reform for minorities.

The democrats have done a good job to gloss that over. However the historical facts can not be denied.

What I find odd here is that you seem to believe that these new black candidates are props and have no will or mind of their own. Nor deserve your respect for standing up and taking an active part in our representative republic.

Your whiteness is glowing brightly on your ivory tower.

Quite astute.

Then democratic party gets quite upset when blacks and poor whites get all uppity and forget that the demokooks believe they own their votes.

And, FWIW, slavery was dead by the Civil War as an economic model. The democratic party was terrified of blacks getting the franchise of the vote.

White democrats effectively increased their political power because house membership was based on state populations and blacks/indians counted as 3/5 of a citizen ... yet had 0/5 of a vote.

Hence a state of 500K white voters and 500K slaves maintained the representation of a state of 800K when only 500K could possibly vote. Knock that down to 250K because of women and 125K because of children. Next, knock that down by about 90% because of poll taxes and you can see that perhaps 10K people who actually voted could control the representation a million people.

The democrats have been playing the electoral multiplication game to keep down minorities and poor whites while protecting old money interests since the nation's birth.

I know you like to follow real close. Or, is it to be followed real close.

In either event. Keep your distance.

It will be nice to hear something from a black politician that can be trusted. Conservatives of any shade are welcome.

Our fearless leader has me in a disillusioned frame of mind.
