For all you Texans (and non-Texans), I just wanted to send out a reminder about this year's 29th Annual Texas State Open 9-Ball Championships! Everything starts next week with players meeting on the 28th, and play on the 29th. There will be a women's division as well. I'm not 100% sure of the entry since its passed Aug. 1st and there are now late fees involved. I think entry last year was $125 +$25 late fee for the Open, and $100+$25 late fee for the women. Please call G-Cue Billiards for this year's entry fees. The Texas Open will be held at G-Cue Billiards in Round Rock, TX which is a suburb of Austin.

Figure the odds...my sister who lives in Roundrock right off of the same exit where G Cue is located, is coming to visit me here in Dallas on her way throught to visit the rest of the family on that very weekend. I've never been inside that PH, but it is nice looking from the outside, and I personally could not beat the fact that I had a ready made free place to stay right there close by...sid~~~oh well

What you should do is ask her to stay at her place while she is gone. Then, let her visit you on her way BACK! This way it works out for everyone! HA! I live about a mile or so away from the pool hall. They are refelting, releveling, and rerailing all the 9' tables this week!

Shayla, that sounds like an owner who knows what it takes to have a sucessful business/tournament. It would be great to see more rooms practice this. Most just recover and that is ok but many rooms have dead rails. I'm sure the players really respect this, I know I would.
