He brings up a very good point. How can anyone who opposed GWB now support Obama, who is nothing more politically than GWB on steroids?
Steve
Was GW Bush a progressive? A dirty Commie Socialist?

He sure wasn't a conservative!
But the question remains. If you thought GWB was bad, and Obama is doing the same things he did, only more so, how can you support Obama?

If GWB had ran as a demokook, they would be petitioning to carve his mug on Mt Rushmore.

What this proves is how politically illiterate many American voters are.
On many issues GWB was well to the left of Clinton ... who was to the right of Nixon ... but the left hates and Nixon solely because (R) followed their names on the ballot and (D) followed Clinton's.
At the same time they have deified JFK, who was slightly to the right of Reagan.
That one I've always found hilarious ... JFK was pro-life, pro small gubmint, pro low taxes, pro defense, anti welfare state and the left views him as the grandpappy of modern liberalism.

If JFK were alive and running today, I'd certainly vote for him...regardless of which letter followed his name.
But, I wonder how many from the left would support him if that letter happened to be an (R).
Steve
Almost none.
I wouldn't vote for JFK if I knew what has came out since his presidency.

Also ... he more than anyone undid the damage to the economy by FDR's tax policy.
The 1950's economic boom was only possible because the rest of the world had been ruined by war.
By the late 1950's we were teetering on the edge of falling back into the depression ... face it, there's just no incentive to produce once you reach the 92% tax bracket. And in state and local taxes and many of our most productive members of society reached a point where they were working for a couple cents on the dollar.

I have heard it said that JFK could not even get into the Republican party today because he was too far right.

Yes.
At least he did not cheat at golf like Clinton did. Clinton would hit the ball and if he did not like the shot he would have the secret service guys go get it and he would hit it again. Then he would tell everyone he shot 80. Ya gotta hate someone who cheats at golf.

Wasn't there a story a few years back about Kim Il Jong, who had taken up golf and was shooting below par?
Weren't you keeping score for him?
His father claimed to shoot an 18 on a par 72.

I don't love him for it, I just don't blame him. I don't see why he stayed married to her. He obviously doesn't like her.

Well ... let's review.
He was pro social security privatization.
He was pro death penalty.
He used US military force for more frivolous reasons than Bush. Before you argue that ... be prepared to explain the US interests that were at stake in Haiti?
He was willing to reduce the growth in government when backed into a corner.
