Every bit of this sarcasm as some bleeding hearts may automatically label it, is EXACTLY the point we all should be asking in sincerity. Every f-n time I hear the news say AZ is changing pieces of the new law, Obama JOKING about our miseries, it makes me sick. Really, they(Arizona) has to create their own state law which happens to mirror federal law over immigration, and they get threatened by out own hired federal officials with a law suit! This shit stinks, and if I have to slam Barrak Obama from here to hell and back, I will. Arizona, SHOULD, in it's entirety, enforce the changes they make in this new law, and then lets see what the rest of the border states do to follow. 1. This state law, is the only way this invasion and take over by attrition...and trust me, that's exactly what it is, dropping babies as fast as they can, only then will the illegal(illegal, illegal, illegal) oh did I forget to say ILLEGAL invasion be steered away from sucking the total value out of our social system as we know it.

Invade Mexico and see what happens. Seriously! Send a black sheep of the family to the Rio Grande to wade across and get nabbed by the federalies. I;m sure they'd get the quickest colonoscopy by way of rifle butt you could ever imagine, and you'd pay hell getting them back. One hell of a difference compared to all of these social service "dog ticks" sucking us dry. Oh did I forget to mention they were ILLEGALS! sid

You forgot to include a cool $145,000 too for your troubles... I don't even want to get into explaining this one... but it's disgusting. As printed in the NY Post:

Quote:

An illegal immigrant with a long rap sheet got a $145,000 parting gift from New York City taxpayers before he was deported, after a federal judge ruled his civil rights had been violated when he was held too long on Rikers Island.

Federal rules allow local law enforcement to detain suspected illegal immigrants for 48 hours after their criminal cases are resolved, to give Immigration and Customs Enforcement a chance to pick them up and move them to federal facilities.

Former Brooklyn resident Cecil Harvey, 55 -- backed by an immigration-rights advocacy group -- argued that his rights were violated when he spent more than a month in a Rikers holding pen before being transferred to ICE.

Harvey was shipped to his native Barbados in October 2007; the city settled his civil suit late last year.

The landmark settlement has prompted the Correction Department to dump scores of illegal immigrants on the streets, since federal officials often fail to pick them up within the required two-day window.

Federal immigration agents have office space on Rikers Island, and the city allows them to interview roughly 4,000 inmates each year. They put a hold, or "detainer," on 3,200 of those inmates who they discover are illegals.

Written by Ken_Sayers Daily Journal (Opinion) Nov 13, 2009

Initially I wrote this as simply a response to an email from a friend. It is one of those things that someone “cleverly” thought up, like “Joe the Plumber” was thought up and then it gets mindlessly passed by the thoughtless followers of the Rush Limbaugh ilk. It is time, however, to call this crap out and see it for the hateful drivel it really is.

...I really hate to see this stuff. But, OK, let’s really look at it. At first glance it is establishing what occurs in countries that the United States considers to be poor examples of how people should be treated. We have even called some of them “evil.” Some of the others are full of our troops, ostensibly attempting to change the way they treat people. However, to read the last sentence, we are made to think that we are the stupid ones and the countries listed above are doing things right. So, is the author of this drivel aligning himself with all the countries that we consider despicable in their treatment of the less fortunate? Never mind that these countries we consider despotic and/or also currently engaged in political battles wherein there are few “innocent” (immigrants) players.

...Now, let’s examine the last sentence. “If you cross the U.S. border illegally you get a job, a drivers license, social security card, welfare, food stamps, credit cards, subsidized rent or a loan to buy a house, free education, free health care, a lobbyist in Washington and in many instances you can vote!”

What it says is true. BUT, it is true for ONLY a select few “illegal” immigrants, namely the Cubans. The treatment of these immigrants is fiercely defended by the Republican party— the same people whom I believe are pushing this hateful, despicable drivel. I think if one wants to consider the crossing of borders, look at what Europe does— people with whom we really tend to align ourselves. And please, stop the hate mongering.

Good idea.

Quote:

If you don't speak Dutch, and the thought of nude beaches or homosexual marriage makes you uncomfortable, then the Netherlands is not for you. That's the message from Dutch immigration authorities, who have just instituted some of Europe's most stringent requirements for would-be immigrants. Several other European states are following suit, as European politicians react to growing anti-immigration sentiment among voters.

Dutch Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk says there are over 600,000 people in her country who don't speak proper Dutch and are mostly unemployed.

Verdonk argues that the Netherlands can no longer afford to welcome immigrants who will not integrate into mainstream society, which is why she has advocated a new restrictive visa system.

Under the new policy, which went into effect last month, would-be immigrants seeking a residency visa will have to pass a "civic-integration examination" before they arrive in the Netherlands. Applicants will have to pass a Dutch-language test administered at the Dutch Embassy in their country of origin.
One Dutch analyst says, "it's more a measure of controlling immigration than of promoting integration."

They will also have to take an exam testing their compatibility with Dutch liberal values. The exam includes a movie featuring homosexuals kissing and a scene at a nude beach. The movie emphasizes the point that this is all part of normal life in the Netherlands.

The film has elicited the most controversy, with opponents saying it has been deliberately made to offend -- and exclude -- devout Muslims. ...

For years, Dutch society has been known for its promotion of multiculturalism and its tolerant attitude to the languages and customs of immigrants.

But according to polls, Dutch public opinion has been changing for years, with most people now in favor of the government's new assimilation drive, says Meindert Fennema, a professor at the University of Amsterdam and a specialist on immigration.

"We have figures from 1994 onward which indicate that some 90 percent of the Dutch population answers the question: 'Would you like to have a more assimilationist integration policy?' with 'Yes,'" Fennema tell RFE/RL. "That figure has only gone up slightly in the last decade," ...

Just Keeping Out Poor Muslims?

Opponents of the new integration law say it is openly discriminatory. They point out that the test costs a lot of money, 350 euros ($430), which has to be paid in advance. Also, it is hard to get Dutch-language training abroad.

And citizens of some wealthy countries, including Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan, are exempt. If a Dutchman marries a Japanese woman, for example, she is free to come to the Netherlands, with no language test and no required movie to watch on "Dutch values."

Groenendijk says the new law seems to be more about keeping poor, mostly Muslim immigrants out, rather than integrating foreigners into Dutch society:

"In my view, the immigration test abroad is not only a violation of the new EU directive on the right to family reunification, but it's also discriminatory in that it exempts people from rich countries on grounds that have nothing to do with integration," he says. "And this indicates that it's more a measure of controlling immigration than of promoting integration."

The Netherlands is not the only European country that has begun to restrict immigration or citizenship only to people it sees as culturally or economically desirable. ...

Maintaining that growth will be crucial if those countries are to avoid an economic crisis. But it seems many Europeans feel under siege and their governments are increasingly responding by closing the door to immigrants.

Social Security for Illegal Immigrants?

March 1, 2009

Q: Is Congress about to give Social Security to illegal immigrants?

A: Congress hasn’t voted on any measure to pay benefits to illegal immigrants, and has no plans for any such vote.

Quote:

FULL QUESTION

Is this true?

SOCIAL SECURITY CHANGES

It does not matter if you personally like or dislike Obama. You need to sign this petition and flood his e-mail box with e-mails that tell him that, even if the House passes this bill, he needs to veto it. It is already impossible to live on Social Security alone. If the government gives benefits to ‘illegal’ aliens who have never contributed, where does that leave those of us who have paid into Social Security all our working lives?

As stated below, the Senate voted this week to allow ‘illegal’ aliens access to Social Security benefits.
Attached is an opportunity to sign a petition that requires citizenship for eligibility to that social service.

Instructions are below. If you don’t forward the petition and just stop it, we will lose all these names.

If you do not want to sign it, please just forward it to everyone you know.

Thank you!

Quote:

FULL ANSWER

Versions of this whopper have been going around since 2006 and picked up after Democrats won increased House and Senate majorities last November. Since January 1, readers have forwarded to us more than 100 e-mails that claim Congress is about to vote or is voting right now or just voted last week to give Social Security benefits to illegal immigrants. All are false.

We first saw this bogus claim bandied about as a Republican campaign theme during the 2006 midterm elections. As we explained then, no benefits can legally be paid to illegal immigrants and there was never a proposal to change that.

The false claims mischaracterize debate over immigration legislation in 2006. There was a failed attempt by Republicans to change current law in order to prevent immigrants who become citizens, or who are granted legal status, from getting credit toward future Social Security benefits for taxes they paid before becoming legal. Current law allows illegal immigrants to get such credit – but only when and if they become legal. Republicans offered an amendment to change this, but it failed, as did the immigration legislation to which it would have been attached.

But the bunk didn’t die with the bill. During the 2008 Republican presidential primaries, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney attacked eventual nominee Sen. John McCain on this same issue. We noted the falsehood again then. The rumor took on new life last fall when an independent group ran television ads saying Barack Obama’s domestic plan "gives illegals Social Security." As we pointed out at the time, the allegation was simply false.

We’ll just quickly note that illegal immigrants are broadly disqualified from collecting benefits from government programs, according to U.S. Code, with only limited exceptions. Those exceptions are:

* Emergency medical care (which includes emergency labor and delivery)
* Emergency disaster relief that is provided for the short term and is not a cash payment
* Limited immunizations and testing, and treatment of symptoms of communicable diseases
* Certain community programs, such as soup kitchens or crisis counseling, as specified by the Attorney General
* Limited housing or community development assistance to those already receiving it in 1996

These are the only circumstances under which illegal immigrants can lawfully receive government assistance. Notably absent from this list is any type of Social Security benefits. To repeat: Illegal immigrants cannot legally receive Social Security benefits, and Congress isn’t about to vote on legislation that would change that.

Of course, some immigrants who are here without legal permission do end up receiving Social Security and other benefits, through bureaucratic mistakes or through deliberate fraud. The Government Accountability Office has even called this a "serious problem," though the GAO also says that "the full extent of benefit fraud is unknown." This problem draws the ire of conservative commentators and is sometimes distorted in Internet or e-mail postings to imply falsely that such payments are government policy.

These e-mails and rumors about Social Security have bubbled up so often that we’ve included it in the frequently asked questions on our "Hot Topics" page.

You could easily find the truth for yourself but you seem to be extra passionate about this subject ie illegals, and any article that plays on that bias you seem to accept without question. Its not the Sid I'm used to.
Believe me, I am no fan of illegals, Europe also has it problems but giving the police total power to harass is not the solution.

If only there was a Rio Grande that would allow the Mexicans to pass from Mexico straight into Holland. Q could meet them at the border with open arms and add them to the loads of Muslims that are now teaming and reproducing at record rates in the Netherlands!

Come to think of it, if I had to watch a film of men kissing and Barney Frank grabbing the tush of a young school boy, I might not be so inclined to sign up for being a citizen of any country myself.

It is funny that the left will defend any illegal immigration activity as long as it might mean votes in the future while not wanting to have the hypocracy of the other countries laws and brought to their attention, even to the extent of throwing out a "Republican are sure this or that!" rather than address the issue. They will jump on Arizona in a heartbeat with flase accusatios of racism while pandering to the people who really crack down on immigrants, women and even are abusive as a policy to children. Some anti-gay slug takes a boytoy on a trip to Europe and they are all up in arms while they are burning and torturing them in other places is barely noticed. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I believe at was a group of Republicans who were visiting and supporting the regime which was killing people for being gay, Deeman. Did you ever hear or read about that?

Not only that, but you've been bashing Barney Franks on here for years, for being gay, but I don't notice any bashing of Republican gays, and actually, Barney Frank was the first gay Representative to come out of the closet. Does not vote agains gay rights, and does not pretend to be other than whom he is.

I'd say he's shown far more courage than the massive number of Republican closeted gays, who refuse to even answer the question, even after admitting to it in a deposition for a lighter sentence, after being caught toe tapping in the men's room.

I know I've been wondering for years what else Bush gave to the Saudi King, or was it a Prince, after kissing him on the lips, holding his hand on their walk, and hugging him like a toyboy, after they finally got out of the camera range..and into the "Ranch".... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
