Iraq vote As al Maliki edges toward power, former Iraqi premiere warns of looming civil war

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki took a major step toward staying in power on Saturday when a top Shiite cleric said he would not stop him from keeping his job, but an arch-rival warned of civil war. </div></div>

After 9 years, the war in Afghanistan is nowhere near won and Bin Laden is still free. A zillion $ in weapons but you still canīt take out one guy!

I predicted a long time ago that Bush would never catch OBL. Why kill the bogey man that you use him to whip your own simple minded citizens into such a fear that they will let you do anything, trash the USCON even, in order to save them.
Anyway, the Saudis would never allow one of their own to be executed by the infidels. They also happen to be close pen pals of the Bush family.
Coincidence!

Why hasn't the chosen one already taken care of it? If, as you point out, all those weapons and people and technology are in place, it should really be a very simple matter. So why, after 16 months, hasn't Obama taken care of this? It would be a great opportunity for him to show the world what a great Commander-in-Chief he really is.

Oh, wait...I know. Getting OBL is easy when Bush is pres...but not so easy when Obama is in office.

No. The Q is, "why didn't GW take care of it?"

He made a promise.

The Taliban and Saddam were toppled. UBL is quite possibly dead already.

"MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" was the war against Saddamite Hussinsein. Operations since then have been a counter insurgency effort and we remain at the request of the Iraqi govt.

If you want to blame Bush for not taking charge of the aftermath of the fall of Baghdad, I'm with you.

What you are doing however is typical leftist doublethink. Blame Bush I for not taking out Saddam, praise Clinton for not taking out Saddam or the Taliban, blame Bush II for taking them both out, blaming Bush for the surge swearing it won't work, praising Obama for the surge's success which he opposed.

Anything new here?

Nope.

Then, you pull that shit at Tora Bora with the locals doing the grab!? Gimme a break. Bush sold out, on purpose. Bush is a POS, and a traitor, should be hung! sid

If your guy is so good...and with all the technology and weapons at his disposal, and a rubberstanp congress willing to give him anything he wants...why hasn't he accomplished what Bush couldn't?

Is it possible he is more concerned about his own agenda? He wasted a year focused on healthcare when he could have been doing something about the economy and jobs (Porkulus wasn't it!!). Maybe he doesn't care about OBL....or maybe he is impot....er...I mean incompetent.

Yep, and Cheney, rumsfeld, Rice, Rove and Libby, should be hanging right beside him.

I think all of this No Accountability stuff started when Gerry Ford pardoned Richard Nixon...and it's gotten to be a way of life for Republicans, at least, ever since.

"Read My lips, no new taxes...."

"We're going to get those guys who brought down these buildings...."

"Government IS the problem...."

It sure is Bonzo, er, Ronnie, when you let Republicans run the show!

I like Bill Mahr's line, "Republican always say government doesn't work, then they get into office and prove it!"

Good one, and so true!
