I found a great free program to screen my e-mail with. It is called MailWasher. It allows me to screen my e-mail without ever opening it up, and bounce back the offensive or spam type e-mails. Bouncing the e-mail back to the sender is better than unsubscribing, because the sender believes it is an inactive account. Unsubscribing doesn't work as well, because it proves it is a valid account, and some unscrupulous venders then sell your e-mail address to others. The reason I found this program is that some horse's butt has been signing my e-mail address up at several porn sites. Funny, Ha Ha. (NOT!) I have the perpetrators IP address and eventually will figure out who it is. Pay backs are tough. /ccboard/images/icons/wink.gif In the mean time I have some defense. The web address for mail washer is www.mailwasher.net The developer accepts contributions, but the program is fully functional without making any contribution.

Hi Stickman,

I used mailwasher for a while and its a good program. My problem with it was that I check my mail many, many times a day and sometimes it was a hassle to start up mail washer first. On top of that I have about 10 different mail accounts and I leave mail on the server for a couple of days, so that I make sure I receive all messages even if I am travelling with the laptop. That left a very long list of mail headers to check each time with mailwasher.

I have a terrible problem with spam, first email check this morning I had over 15, I'll get another 25 before days end. I have found a new program that I think is much better. Its called Postal Inspector (http://www.giantcompany.com) and comes for Outlook and Outlook Express. I am still in the trial period but I will spend the $20 to register as it works really well. The program integrates itself into Outlook and after a bit of tweaking and "teaching" the program (about 2 days) it now catches every single bit of spam. It also bounces the mail back to help get my email address off the spam list but with this program it will move all spam to the deleted folder in outlook and mark them red, so you can check to see it hasn't caught a message that you actually want.

I found it a download.com and it had got great reviews.

Kind regards,

Thanks for the feedback Tony. I'm sure that I don't get the volume of mail you get, so for now at least, I'm happy with MW. If eventually, I get back into the photography business, and build a web site, as I plan to, I'll keep Postal Inspector in mind.
