Top Republican leaders in the House offered a fairly strong signal on Sunday that they would favor a down-the-road raising of the Social Security retirement age as part of an effort to revamp the entitlement program.

Appearing on NBC's "Meet the Press," Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said it was time "for the American people to have an adult conversation about <span style='font-size: 20pt'>the problems that we face" with respect to Social Security's solvency.</span>

"We also know these programs are unsustainable in their current form," said the Ohio Republican. Asked specifically if he supports raising the retirement age to, say, 70, Boehner replied: "There are a lot of options on how you solve these, but I don't want to put the cart before the horse." </div></div>

He is a lying piece of dog turd. SS is the most successful Govt program ever!

This is the guy who doesn't listen to economists and is not interested in facts.

Wall St is making even more money than before but the man in the street will have to work 5 more years to get his pension......if he lives that long.

It doesn't matter what question you ask these guys, they will always ignore it and start waffling.

GREGORY: You’re not being responsive to a specific point which is how can you be for cutting the deficit and also cutting taxes as well when they’re not paid for?

BOEHNER: Listen, you can’t raise taxes in the middle of a weak economy. […]

GREGORY: But tax cuts are not paid for is that correct?

BOEHNER: I am not for raising taxes on the American people in a soft economy.

GREGORY: That’s not the question. Are tax cuts paid for or not?

BOEHNER: Listen, what you’re trying to do is get into this Washington game and their funny accounting over there. …

GREGORY: Do you believe tax cuts pay for themselves or not?

BOEHNER: I do believe that we’ve got to get more money in the hands of small businesses. </div></div>

The hypocricy is clear for all to see, they want everything to be paid for EXCEPT the tax breaks for the uber rich.

Objecting to everything may be a good strategy to bring Govt to a halt and stop Obama changing the staus quo ,but it might come back and bite them in the behind.

All the Dems have to do is run one Ad.

Republicans AGAINST........

Its a long list and an embarrassing one.

Lets hope come the election the LW media [ anyone who points out Palin is a moron..LOL.]...runs this video non stop,,, just like Fox does with their fake stories.

From a conservative perspective, SS is the worst program our government has ever conned the public into. Clearly it is unconstitutional and a Ponzi scheme that participants are forced into by force of law...a blatant assault on liberty. It was only through the court packing scam that caused a vote to switch on the court but I don't need the court to read for me. Of course, the Left loves anything that forces the general public to comply with their stupid ideas.

I criticize all politicians for foisting this fraud on the public and, now that the scheme is in very predictable trouble, double the criticism for not using this opportunity for not phasing out the commie idea rather that attempting to extend it.

The only thing good about not winning back the House this November is not having to put up with Boehner as Speaker
