<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Kurtz calls out Hannity for his <span style='font-size: 14pt'>'deceptive' editing of Obama's speech</span> -- but that's nothing new for Fox

Of course, Jon Stewart had already called out Sean Hannity for his selective edit of President Obama's speech Monday -- making it sound as though Obama uttered the opposite of what he actually said. But Howard Kurtz noticed it too, and remarked on it today on CNN's Reliable Sources:

KURTZ: Here's what I didn't like.

Sean Hannity is no fan of Barack Obama, and he's perfectly entitled to bash him night after night. But here's how the Fox News host analyzed Obama's recent speech in Ohio.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SEAN HANNITY, FOX NEWS: Now, the president did have a rare moment of honesty during his speech, and I hope voters around the country are watching this --

OBAMA: <span style='font-size: 17pt'>Taxes are scheduled to go up substantially next year for everybody.</span> HANNITY: All right, that's right. I know the anointed one will make sure that that happens.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

KURTZ: <span style='font-size: 14pt'>But just a second. </span><span style='font-size: 17pt'>Here's a little bit more of what Obama said.</span>

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

OBAMA: Under the tax plan <span style='font-size: 20pt'>passed by the last administration,</span> taxes are scheduled to go up substantially next year for everybody. <span style='font-size: 20pt'>By the way, this was by design.</span>

<span style="color: #3333FF">Everyone seems to have short memoties in the GOP. THEY MADE A DEAL to get the 2nd round of Bush tax cuts passed. The tax cuts were to expire on a set date, like now. Even then the vote was 50/50 with Cheney casting the deciding vote! Imagine that!! Passing a Bill with a simple majority. A bill that has added 3.4 Trillion dollars to the debt!!!!
The GOP are going back on their word.........no surprise there.</span>

(END VIDEO CLIP)

KURTZ: <span style='font-size: 17pt'>So Hannity's careful editing just happens to leave out Obama's explanation that the Bush administration had arranged for the tax cuts to expire in 2010, not to mention that Obama wants to extend the tax cuts for 98 percent of Americans while ending them for the wealthiest taxpayers.</span>

<span style='font-size: 20pt'>Isn't that kind of editing -- what's the word -- deceptive?</span> A tip of the hat to "The Daily Show" for catching that one.

They do it all the time.

<span style='font-size: 14pt'><u>This is no mistake.</u> This is just another DELIBERATE attempt to distort the truth by a nationwide News channel that claims to be 'Fair and Balanced'.</span> When you look up the definition of this kind of behaviour you come to <span style='font-size: 20pt'>'Propaganda'. </span>

Its time to take away their license. They are not fit for the airwaves.

What an insane position to take.

By that definition we should cease all gubmint agencies ayt the end of this fiscal year since their funding was scheduled to end by design.

So if the tax cuts were scheduled to end, and Obama doesn't like that, seems he has enough support in congress to extend them. Yeah, let him call them the Obama tax cuts if he wants to. It doesn't matter.
And if he doesn't want to extend them, then he should be happy that they were designed to expire.

Planning for things to happen in the future is nothing new in Washington, and not even new to Obama. Do you think there is a reason his Obamacare doesn't actually go into effect until after his first term ends??????

I don't see it as a big deal. If the dems decide to allow the tax cuts to expire, yes, that ammounts to a tax increase. In this economy, that's probably a pretty stupid thing to do, but they have the numbers to make it happen if that is what they want to do.

Either raise taxes, or don't....and live with the consequences of your actions.

Since he supposed leaders of the Republican party work for fox, and Reagan ushered in the right to propagandiz the news, without any fairness or balance, what chance is there that the "Conservatives" will wake up? We both know the answer.

If you're dealing with people who deny their own radical defense of all things Bush, including deficit spending, seven trillion dollar drug programs, two wars, big tax cuts, and borrow, borrow, borrow, Not much cnance they will ever wake up.

How realistic is it for them to have expected that Bush's huge job loss train, and our country on the brink of a depression, the Bush 800 billion bail out, accumulating debts left over from Bush, including the worst legacy of any president, yet Republicans vow to do more of the same, and their sheep say, rah rah rah....and blame Obama for all of it.

Forty percent of them say they get all of their news from fox!

When it comes to propaganda, they suck it up like a bubba sucking on Southern Comfort Whiskey!

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

They follow all of that up by denying they ever supported Bush's regime with the zeal which we all witnessed right here.

Now, after supporting the biggest spenders in history, they convolute Bush's massive debts, calling them all, Obama's.

Bush's accelerating job loss train, which was surely hugely predicted to be on-going by ALL of the economists, for years, at the minimum, many said likely for a decade, after Bush was gone, given the depth of the recession he left, and then Republicans, their followers, and Fox, claim to be deficit hawks, after undying support for all of Bush's policies throughout his on-going disastrous presidency!

Fox, is where we should be standing with our signs of outrage over their lies and propaganda, from a station owned by a FOREIGNER, who has cornered the media market, with an obvious agenda, linked to the corrupt Republican party, the Grand Oil Party of deregulation, and tax cuts during war time, most advantaging the wealthiest.

Do they stop to think that most of that top one or two perecent are composed of Laywers, specialty surgeons, pundits like Beck and Palin, billionaires like Murdoch, loads of wealthy people who don't create an damned thing, and stash their money into CD's and luxuary items, hide it offshore, hire the best lawyers and accountants, to hide their profits for them, not at all in job producing goods, job expanding actions, or even any real stimulation of the economy????

NOPE! Only the propaganda of their beloved News Corps, is digested.

LMAO! The stupendously stupid will be knocking one another over to get right back in there and vote for the same incompetents who put us in the ditch. Sixty percent of whom, say they don't even know who the leaader of their party is! HA HA HA!

Republiicans are threatening to shut down the Federal Government, like they didn't already do that. they've stalled so many nominations, 103 VACANT seats! 47 DEEMED TO BE EMERGENCIES! The worst obstructionist politics in history, in a time when their party threw us into the deepest recession since the Great Depression, spending, borrowing, warring, and expanding the Federal Government to unprecedented levels!

What a crock!

Please remember this when the Republicans hold the majority, and the Dems refuse to cooporate with them.
It's going to happen, and we all know it.

<span style='font-size: 14pt'>So are you telling me now Gayle has her own show on Fox? LOL</span>

This is about Hannity and Fox and their habitual lying to millions [of Tea Party people /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif] of viewers who believe they are telling the truth.
For this latest example of 'cut, chop and paste a$$ backwards journalism ' there are no excuses.

What they do is designed to deceive the public but you give them a pass.................and you attack Gayle instead.

<span style='font-size: 17pt'> HOW PATHETIC IS THAT?.</span>

This only shows how little you actually comprehend.

Here's what your data actually proves:

1 - The tax cuts had to have 60 votes to end cloture.

2 - This means that 10 demokooks were in favor of the bill but took the actions of a political coward by voting against it after they voted for it.

3 - IOW ... if they wanted to stop the cuts they would have.

4 - They didn't because they knew the far left would accept whatever "TRUTH" they later used.

It requires doublethink at a stunning level to believe that statement to be even approaching true.
