View Full Version : Any instructors in the Austin (Pflugerville) area

08-29-2002, 08:17 PM
I just returned to pool after a 16 year layoff due to marriage and kids coming first. i picked up a cue again around 6 months ago and either I was never as good as I thought I was or you really do loose it if you don't use it. Any suggestions on a good instructor or good ways to get back in stoke.
Thanks
FatSam

Good morning:

You might wish to check with Sharon Hawley or Michelle at Hawley's Billiards. I am certain they can provide you with an excellent referral.

However, if you would like to take lessons from one of the best, make a regular trip to NYC and sign up with our very own Fran Crimi...

<blockquote><font class="small">Quote: fatsam:</font><hr> That is "stroke". <hr></blockquote>Hi fatsam,

BTW - since you're new here, you might not know about the "edit" feature. After you create a post, if you find a spelling error you can go back and edit the original, thus not having to put up another post just to correct the spelling.

As for instructions: RandyG is in Dallas, ( http://www.poolschool.com ) and Scott Lee is currently traveling. You can find Scott Lee in the User List here and you can send him a personal message and see if he's coming through Austin soon. You may also want to contact AustinFilAm via the User List and see what he thinks. He has received instruction from Mr. Lee.

Hi FatSam,
I took a couple of hours lesson from Scott Lee and it was well worth it. A few of my teammates also took advantage of the opportunity. We were lucky that Austin was not out of the way when he made his trek to the New Orleans BCA show.

Another BCA instructor is Kevin Welling. He manages G-Cue Billiards at 300 Hesters Crossing. I don't know of his reputation as an instructor so you might want to call him at 310-8925. G-Cue is just a couple of miles from Pflugerville. As a matter of fact, I play on their Thursday night 9 ball league. I'll be at G-Cues this weekend watching the Texas Express 9 ball State Tournament. Finals will be on Sunday afternoon. Email me when you have a chance.

fatsam,

You might want to call Kevin Welling from GCue Billiards. (You know, the place where the Texas State Open was held this past weekend. He was the guy running the tournament in the suit all weekend.) I've taken his class and I thought it was pretty good. Reasonably priced and its about once a week for about 5-6 weeks. Gives you enough time to practice what you learned that week instead of giving you all that instruction in a weekend.
