For our economically challenged friends, a web site that explains why the numbers your government provides to you aren't quite accurate.

http://www.shadowstats.com/

I doubt if any of you will take the time to look at it, but if that's the case, you have nobody to blame but yourself.

Silly me. I thought that curiosity might get the best of them...but if they had any curiosity, they would not bury their heads in the sand, and might seek to gain knowledge on their own, rather than accepting the daily spoon feeding they seem to survive on.

I really didn't expect any of them to respond...but I feel better for having put it out there.

What's really disturbing to me is the fact that there are actually people out there that exist solely for the purpose of being political tools. The sharing of truth and knowledge have no place in their lives unless they accidently fit into their narrow, twisted, fantasy world.

Specialist told his colleagues of getting threats of dismissal

By Tony Pugh, Knight Ridder Newspapers | March 12, 2004

WASHINGTON -- The government's top specialist on Medicare costs told colleagues he was warned that he would be fired if he told key lawmakers about a series of Bush administration cost estimates that could have torpedoed congressional passage of the White House-backed Medicare prescription-drug plan.

When the House of Representatives passed the controversial benefit by five votes last November, the White House was embracing an estimate by the Congressional Budget Office that it would cost $395 billion in the first 10 years.

But for months the administration's own analysts in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services had concluded repeatedly that the drug benefit could cost upward of $100 billion more.

Withholding the higher cost projections was important because the White House was facing a revolt from 13 conservative House Republicans who had vowed to vote against the Medicare drug bill if it cost more than $400 billion.

Representative Sue Myrick of North Carolina, one of the 13, said she was "very upset" when she learned of the higher estimate. "I think a lot of people probably would have reconsidered [voting for the bill] because we said that $400 billion was our top of the line," Myrick said.

Five months before the November House vote, the government's chief Medicare actuary had estimated that a similar plan the Senate was considering would cost $551 billion over 10 years. Two months after Congress approved the new benefit, the White House budget director, Joshua Bolten, disclosed that he expected it to cost $534 billion.

Richard S. Foster, the chief actuary for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which produced the $551 billion estimate, told colleagues last June that he would be fired if he revealed numbers relating to the higher estimate to lawmakers.</div></div>

Estimate Dwarfs Bush's Original Price Tag

By Ceci Connolly and Mike Allen
Washington Post Staff Writers
Wednesday, February 9, 2005; Page A01

The White House released budget figures yesterday indicating that the new Medicare prescription drug benefit will cost more than $1.2 trillion in the coming decade, a much higher price tag than President Bush suggested when he narrowly won passage of the law in late 2003.

The projections represent the most complete picture to date of how much the program will cost after it begins next year. The expense of the new drug benefit has been a source of much controversy since the day Congress approved it, with Democrats and some Republicans complaining that the White House has consistently low-balled the expected cost to the government. </div></div> link (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A9328-2005Feb8.html)

I open most links Hondo and have never experienced a virus attack on this site or AZ.

More likely your antivirus is improperly configured or is misidentifying a legitimate part of a sites code.

I would suggest switching to Avast. Its the one I use and is free and does an excellent job.

Also downloading Malwarebytes and running a spyware scan occasionally is a good idea. Another free program that I have been using for a few years now.

Nothing wrong with having different viewpoints, that's to be expected, and welcomed.

The problem is when "viewpoints" overide facts, "lies" become facts, and people present one for the other. All done, knowingly, in order to promote some sick agenda that reduces itself to nothing more than control and power. That simply cannot be tolerated in a society that considers and wishes itself to be free, it must be exposed for the cancer that it is.

Sure. No problem, if that's what you want.
But I thought PMs were supposed to be private.
I assume you think posting these makes you a "winner" in your buds' eyes.
Here it is:

I don't know your name and I doubt that that is your real address.
I'll be honest with you, Larry.
I don't know you and I don't trust you.
I'm not scared of you personally but I have a family to consider.
I don't want to expose them to somebody who appears to take all
this jibber jabber on here deadly serious and seems obsessed with what you consider winning.

You may be a wonderful man who's harmless, but you come across
as somebody who dislikes me intensely and who
appears to be a loose wire.Your posts have a frantic, desperate
edge to them and you have become increasingly more mean-spirited in the past couple of years.

I barely glanced at your address. Without a name I doubted that it was legitimate. I have no intent of contacting you and
I feel that we would both be more comfortable keeping our distance from each other.

Now if you wanted to meet at the Derby City Classic this year, have a few, and put this foolishness behind us, I would be happy to oblige.
Ask EasyE or Russ Chewning or Deeman, or Wally in Cincy about me.
I'm a decent man with a good sense of humor.

You bring out the worst in me and that's why I try to not respond to you if I can avoid it

This is my last post on this thread, ole buddy.
I asked for a pass on the Lefty/Righty thread and it has been mostly good other than your jab at Q.
I let myself be drawn into this one to my regret.

I have explained abuot 10 times why I want to keep you away from my family. Ten is enough.

pleases me no end.
