Yes but Manchin is only a democrat in name. He has stated that he will oppose Obama and his agenda.
Remember he has only 2 years. So expect him to vote with the republics a majority of the time. Especially if he wants to keep his seat in 2012.

Congrats, friend.

I was surely relieved that our former Republican governor, lost heavily, and Democratic, O'Mally, will remain in office. Marylanders are still trying to recover from the damages of a Republican Governor.

As for as this election is concerned, it was what most people expected, in a bad economy.

It's going to be very bad for most Americans, to have Reopublicans gaining seats, as they have supported the same corporations who block renewable fuel mandates, out-source American jobs, and pollute the environment, while they overcharge Americans at every turn.

Bush, and the Republicans, take our tax dollars and turn them over to the same bunch who don't give a damn about Americans, or their jobs, health, or well being, at all.

The corporations, most of them linked to foreign interests, who bought most of the seats for Republicans, are really the ones who won yesterday.

The rest of America, lost. I suppose we can all exzpect higher gas and oil prices, more cancer, more poisoned foor, air and water, and not much progress catching up with China, and the European Countries, who have already been making strides in solar, wind, and other forms of renewables.

The Grand Oil Party, will surely see to that. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Actually, the rest of America spoke, telling the Democrats what they think about their actions of the past two years.

I think the "rest of America" actually won.
Sorry if you aren't part of the "rest of America".

Manchin is a conservative Democrat.
He will oppose cap and trade because of King Coal
and he will defend our right to bear arms because he's a hunter.
Other than that, he will be a loyal Democrat.

As far as kissing up to the Repubs to get re-elected, that will never happen.
And he will be re-elected.

You are so wrong. Now that the Republicans control the House,
in 2 years or less we will all be drinking champagne out of glass slippers and eating that Rainbow stew.
No health care for the working poor. Did they really need it anyway? No more health care for our youguns still living at home while trying to get a start.

Those lazy black folks will get off their lazy asses and go to work like decent white folks.

We'll run those damn Latinos out of our country.

Big business will continue to pollute the air.
Research that could save lives will halt.
Why do we need it anyway? Big Drug loves us and will take care of us.

Back room abortions will become fashionable again.
Social Security will be exposed as a Ponzi scheme and we will invest our future in Wall Street and pray.

Oil prices will be higher than ever.
The wars will continue.

Education will be privatized, at taxpayers' expense.
Only the priviledged will be guaranteed an education.
No free lunches, no free textbooks, no vouchers for poor
Democrats.
The success of our teachers will be measured by how well
the students can regurgitate data spoon fed to them and
if the results are not satisfactory, teachers will be sh*t-canned.

That vague term "quality" will cease to have any meaning whatever.
The dumbing down of America will continue and we will worship style over substance.

Those who are "different", Muslim, gays, tree huggers, intellectuals, liberals , will be more despised than ever.

The rich will get richer and the working poor poorer.
The middle class will slip further down the food chain.

Everyone's phone will be tapped and cameras inside our t.v.s will moniter deviant behavior.

Obama will be blamed for every failure and as the masses are instructed to hate him more and more, the Palin/Beck ticket
will be embraced as bringing us back to the salad days of the GWB administration.

And we will love Big Brother.

It sounds like the Republican version of Utopia. We can trace that far back in history....to the time of Marie Antoinette:
"Let them eat cake"
Also, this little known gem:
"I have seen all, I have heard all, I have forgotten all."
....and like her, They seem to have forgotten the reign of ineptitude, by the man who would be King: George, the 2cd

You are expecting way too much.

Hondo supports Manchin in opposing Obama's schemes because (D) follows Manchin's name on the ballot.

Hondo supports Obama's schemes because (D) follows Obama's name on the ballot.

Hondo is so deep in doublethink that he must commit doublethink to deny his willing participation in doublethink,

That sums it up, my friend. Take some comfort in the fact that this is the first time, when there has been the usual shift to the other party, during bad times, that the incoming party didn't take both the House, and the Senate.

Everything will now be reduced to just more RW Hatespeak, and njothing will get done.

The Repubs were financied basically by six corporate powers, who have been most responsible for America's demise. Hence, they will be nothing but a blank check for the same corporate fascist pigs, who created the crash.

Too bad. Democracy is gone, thanks to the activist RW, S.C. which doesn't know what a person is, much like their RW party.

I'm wondering how Republicans are now going to deal with the same nutjobs the Palinban, from Beckistan, pushed into the fray. They will likely be pulled even further to the rigt, and how does that help them at all, in the next go rouund.

Remember, 89% of the Tea Party is white.... 89% of them are Republicans, 100% of them are totally nuts.

I shudder to think where this mess will end, likely, not much better than the mess we're still trying to get out of, after the chimp destroyed everything.

Go Palin! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Unbelievable! On the heels of an overwhelming defeat of your party, you still don't get it. The Dems lost more house seats in one night than any time since WWII. Over 30 tea party movement candidates were elected. Americans do not want the garbage that the Dems have forced on them for the past two years. They do not want big government. They want small, less expensive, and more accountable government.

The message is so clear, and you stedfastly refuse to hear it.
