What's strange about this clip is that Scarborough apologises because O'Donnell pressed Cantor for an answer.
If politicians can go on tv and spout any crap they want without being challenged then the media is dead.

Its now the norm on US TV.

I actually like O'Donnell. I may not agree with him that often, but he's very straight forward and a pretty funny guy. I was sort of on the fence with him for a little while there, but in one heated exchange recently he did a little rant that I will have to paraphrase:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I'm a socialist. Now just because that's what my beliefs are, doesn't mean that is what's right for the nation. I accept that we are a democracy, and that my views are often minority opinion. And that's what makes this nation great </div></div>

I'm sure I butchered that pretty badly... but it's along the lines of the point he was making anyway. Which I will respect him for because A) he point blank said he is a socialist, didn't pull any punches or sugarcoat it... and I respect he, as an MSNBC pundit would take the risk involved in saying such a thing on air and B) he is aware that just because it happens to be his view, doesn't necessarily make it right.

found the exact first part of the quote:
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">"[U]nlike you, I am not a progressive. I am not a liberal who is so afraid of the word that I had to change my name to progressive. Liberals amuse me. I am a socialist. I live to the extreme left, the extreme left of you mere liberals ..." </div></div>

Gotta love the straight forward manner here. Even if I disagree, I've got to respect he doesn't hide who or what he is

awesome!

However, I know this about my country. Liberals are 20% of the electorate. Conservatives are 41% of the electorate, ok? So I don't pretend that my views, which would ban all guns in America, make Medicare available to all in America, have any chance at all of happening in the federal government, ok? You can sit there and pretend that liberals should run more liberal in conservative districts...

The only way you have a chairman Barney Frank, and that's be electing blue dogs. </div></div>

He may be so far left of me I can barely see the top of his head... but at least he has a grip on reality... which is more than can be said for most pundits these days!

Sack,
We're all socialists, some just change the definition, and conflate Liberalism, with the out-dated meaning of the word, "Socialism" as it was thought of long, long ago...

The word doesn't have the same meaning it had long ago, IMO.

Was Eisenhower a Socialist, when he launched his huge Highway program, which he observed in Germany?

How about Reagan, and the Savings and Loan, bailouts? Or when he took over the Airline Industry, and fired all of the Air Traffic congtrollers, and then blackballed them from the related insudtries, was that Socialism?

Was Bush's Prescription Drug Program, for seniors, Socialism?

I knew that. I was just talking about the word, Socialisml, which was the subject of his comments.

One of the things he said on that occasion, was, "We're all Socialists."

I saw it live, and posted the link, several days ago. I think the thread title was something like....A gift for my Liberal Friends. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
