View Full Version : Republicans Are Incredibly Rude

Like we didn't know that first hand already.

When the President Of The United States, invites you to come to the White House, for dinner, you re-arrange your plans, and Accept the invitation.

Republicans, after obstructing everything, associated with rebuilding our economy, for political purposes.

Refusing to work together in a bi-partisan effort to address the Health care Crisis in our country.

Refusing to compromise on recovery from any of Bush's many failed policies.

Holding back the President's apppointments to critical agency, deputy appintments, blocking everything, and refusing to compromise.

IOW, consistantly obstructing progress, and refusing to work together with the President, on legislation, during a critical time, to recover from eight years, of the most damaging administration in our history, the Bush Administration, and the resulting economic collapse, and critical foreign Affairs, disasters, now say they can't find the time to attend a dinner invitation, from the POTUS!

Putting off a dinner invitation from the POTUS, is unheard of!

Apparently, they still have no clue what their policies are, and no answers to any of our critical problems, but to continue with their obstructionism, and vicious attacks on the POTUS, attacks like John Kyle, who lied about the Presidents comments on Immigrations, and building a fense, taking his words out of context, as Republicans are famour for doing, and refusing to apologize, evern when he was caught red handed, lying and intentionally misquoting the president.

for the first time in two years, they are now finally aving to think about more than just how to bash Democratics, and the President, and they are coming up clueless, as regards to finding solutions, instead of just bashing and acting like the pigs they have always been.

Their rude actions, also put the President's STARK Treaty with Medvedev, at risk, which has the support of our most respected Foreign Policy experts, from George Shultz, to Madeline Albright, and most others in between, who see this kind of irresponsibility, as yet another republican foreign policy threat, which would weaken important progress, in accomplishing a Treaty, which is in the best interests, of America, and the world.

More unprecedented rudeness, irresponaibility, and blatant obstructionism.

Disgusting.

Maybe they just didn't want to have dinner with him. I wouldn't have any problem turning him down. He is not someone I would want to spend time with, regardless of what his job title happens to be.

I'd rather be playing pool.

I don't know, he seems like a pretty cool guy besides his politics. For a regular guy like myself it would be cool being invited to dinner with the President even if it had to be with this one. I can understand why politicians would not be so excited though.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Barack Obama has offered John Boehner the hottest ticket in town – and he’s turned it down.

A spokesman for the House minority leader said that the White House has invited Boehner to attend next week’s state dinner with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, but that Boehner has declined because he already has plans to be back home in Ohio for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Boehner – who complained earlier this month that Obama’s White House hasn’t invited Republicans over to talk health care since April – attended a state dinner for Queen Elizabeth in 2007, when fellow Republican George W. Bush was president.

It wouldn’t be the first time the opposing party has declined. When Queen Elizabeth II came to Washington for a state dinner in 2007, the event was white tie and Senate leader Harry Reid declined the invitation.

His spokesman, Jim Manley, explained at the time: "Sen. Reid isn't much of a white-tail-at-dinner kind of a guy."

Anita McBride, former chief of staff to First Lady Laura Bush, recalled: “Harry Reid was a last-minute regret, and there was a very happy recipient of his seat.”

And this time around, Reid will also be sitting out the dinner. He will be home in Nevada, his office said.

While the White House hasn’t released the guest list for next Tuesday’s state dinner — Obama’s first — the invitations are already out.

Good job cherry picking, Sack, but my post has absolutely NOTHING to do with someone turning down a State Dinner invitation.

I believe it to be an honor to be invited to dinner by the President, and think it in very bad taste...no pun intended, to decline. If they refuse to "break bread" with the POTUS...I don't see how they will then even try to reach agreements with him, to move this country forward.....at least to where it was before GW

I didn't read this post before I added my own comments ....and more or less, have similar thoughts about that slur. If they did that to embarrass the President....they really just ended up embarrassing themselves. If "Buz" Mosbacher (renowned yachtsman) were still Chief of protocol, they would be answering to him, and he just might beat an oar over their heads to make them listen.

In this case it was particularly rude, because it is a tradition, for the President to invite the opposing party to the White House within two weeks of the election.

IMO, the President went even farther, as he had invited them to dine in his person residence.

As far as I know, this is a first, and it was an intended smack in his face, for them to behave in the way they did. He is clearly taking the high road, and they are clearly being the same uncouth, nasty people they've always been.

They insulted the President, and the office of the presidency.

Even more offensive, given their lame excuse.

This will only highlight his grace and poise, and their rude, pettiness, ignorance, and nastiness.

I found it as repulsive as I find them to be in everything they else they do. I think they're still angry over the way he showed them all up, in Baltimore.

For the love of Pete!

You're talking abut two entirely different dinners, two completely different protocals.

Go read up on it for yourself, instead fo trying to create a totally different reality on the issue being discussed.

Democratics weren't even invited to this invitation for Republicans. It is a tradition, extended to the OPPOSING PARTY WHEN THEY WIN MAJORITY!!! IT IS NOT A STATE DINNER!

A STATE DINNER IN NOT THE SAME THING, AT ANY TIME, IN ANY WAY. THE PROTOCAL IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT.

ok, try to pay attention:

the state dinner was '07, which Reid did not attend.

Boehner will not be attending <u>this</u> dinner.

The article also says, "<u>AND THIS TIME AROUND</u>, Reid will also be sitting out the dinner. He will be home in Nevada, his office said."

The bold underlined part is resent tense, referring to the same subject which Boehner is attached.

According to my link, Boehner and Reid have declined the exact same dinner invitation. What different dinner are you talking about? You didn't link yours... and if there is a different dinner I am unaware of and the protocols are somehow different, then I apologize for any confusion on my part.

After reading her last post, I was certain I must have missed something here. So I looked yet again, and can find no different dinner invitation other than the one I've been talking about.

Now there was a <u>meeting</u> that was declined she may have been thinking about, and erroneously was thinking that was the dinner she spoke of originally here. But otherwise, I can find nothing.

Of course, as I said if I'm shown to be mistaken here I'm more than willing to admit it and apologize for the confusion. But I don't think I am and hope she will grand me that same consideration if this is the case.

For the last time:

1. Democratics were not even invited to this dinner.

2. The dinner you continue to refer to is a STATE DINNER! NOT THE SAME PROTOCAL!

3. The dinner that Republicans turned down, was a personal, private, invitation to REPUBLICANS ONLY, an invitation, to break bread, meet the new members of the party, and discuss policy, IN THE PRIVATE RESIDENCE OF PRESIDENT OBAMA, as in how do we go forward together, IN GOOD FAITH.

4. It is unheard of, for ANY members of the NEW MAJORITY, and whatever new members in the Senate have been voted in, from that opposing party, to turn that invitation down, or put it off. UNHEARD OF. YOU DO NOT tell the president, you're too busy, to attend that traditional reaching out, dinner, from the president.

Please call the damn White House, if you STILL don't get it.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, Sack, I responded before you wrote the one above.

I'm not going to explain it to you again.

Check out my former post, where I listed the differences between the two dinners, <span style='font-size: 20pt'>AS IN 2 DINNERS, 2 TOTALLY DIFFERENT DINNERS..</span>

DO YOU THINK THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, HOLDS STATE DINNERS, UPSTAIRS, IN HIS PERSONAL, PRIVITE RESIDENCE!!!!

Sheesh!

What is a State dinner?

A state dinner is usually organized by a host country, to honour the official visit of a head of state from another nation. Generally, a state dinner will be organized by the guest's official counterpart. This means that a president with mainly symbolic functions would be greeted by the Queen in the United Kingdom, or a Governor General in Commonwealth countries.

A number of guests would be present at a state dinner, including government ministers, high-ranking diplomats, a few Members of Parliament, military attaches, and representatives of any local ethnic, or national community, which may be of the same origin as the visiting president.

A state dinner usually takes place at the residence of the head of state, if appropriate facilities are available, and it tends to start with a standing reception. Following this, the guests are normally invited into the dining hall, where everyone must stand at their assigned table and wait for the presidents or governor general to enter and take their seat at the head table. The dinner usually begins with a short speech and toast from the visiting head of state, as well as the host, or hostess. Most dinners are served with both red and white wine, mineral water and a liquor, or sweet wine with dessert. Dinner is then usually followed by another standing reception, including tea and coffee, and this usually closes the event.

GOP To White House: Guess Who’s Not Coming To Dinner? As part of President Obama’s mea culpa campaign following his party’s drubbing in last week’s elections, Obama invited the Congressional leadership of both parties to come to the White House tomorrow for some discussion and a dinner.
Yesterday came word that the GOP leadership has turned down the invitation due to ‘scheduling conflicts’, delaying the meeting until after the Thanksgiving break.

According to the White House, the invitation was rejected by the GOP leadership due to “scheduling conflicts in organizing their caucuses.”

Seriously?

<span style="color: #990000">Note, this invitation was for this week, not Thanksigiving week. </span>

Had the GOP leaders turned down the invite due to previous commitments to attend the Thanksgiving pageant at their kids’ schools, this I could understand. However, short of such a family obligation, <span style='font-size: 20pt'>is there any acceptable excuse to refuse an invitation from your President?

I don’t think so. It makes no difference who is occupying the White House – when the Office of the President asks you to attend a meeting and stay for dinner, it is completely disrespectful to take a pass. I don’t care if you are congressman or a cab driver.

Not surprisingly, there is a long tradition in our government on this matter. It has always been the case that when a president calls a Member of Congress to the White House, the Member goes. Period.</span><span style='font-size: 20pt'>And whether you like this president or not, the office represents far more than the individual who currently sits at the desk. Once the American people elect a president, he or she is the president of all Americans, including Mitch McConnell and John Boehner. When your leader asks for your participation, you don’t say no unless you’ve got something far bigger than simply being too busy.</span>I have a news flash for McConnell and Boehner. While they may think they are the most important people in the nation, they are not the only Americans who are busy. We’re all busy. A mother caring for her young children is far busier on her slowest day than McConnell and Boehner would be when working through their most hectic schedule.
<span style='font-size: 20pt'>
Yet, I seriously doubt that there is a self-respecting American anywhere – with the exception of these Congressional egomaniacs- who would reject a request to meet with the President. This is simply not something Americans do.</span>

<span style='font-size: 20pt'>Many of those who will be entering Congress for the first time are the beneficiaries of voters who want to see the United States return to a time when politicians treated one another with respect, even if that respect was begrudgingly given. It is inconceivable – even ten years ago- that the White House would extend such an offer to Congressional leaders only to see the opposition party refuse to participate.</span>

I’ve heard the GOP excuse. In light of the Tea Party influence on today’s Republican Party, their leadership is attempting to make sure they are all on the same page before negotiating with the president.

Fine. But would it kill them to take a few hours of their precious time to sit down with the leader of the free world to hear what he has to say and then share a social dinner? Have these people never heard that more can be often be accomplished through social interaction than hard nosed bargaining?

While we all know that the president has attempted to place a high priority on bi-partisanship (something that has gotten him absolutely nowhere), Obama needs to come down hard on the GOP leadership on this matter and do so publicly. He must remind Americans that it is not about him – <span style='font-size: 20pt'>it is about respect for the Office he inhabits. In two years time, maybe McConnell and Boehner will have a president more to their liking. In the meantime, Barack Obama is the president and the Congressional leadership has the same obligation that all American’s have – to honor the office and behave accordingly.</span><span style='font-size: 26pt'>After this extraordinary show of disrespect, it is impossible to understand how anyone could make the case that the GOP seeks to act in the best interest of the country rather than for their own selfish benefit. These people have shamed themselves and shamed their supporters in the process. What’s more, when they insult the Office of the President in this manner, they insult every single American – whether one voted for this president or not.</span>Leader McConnell and presumptive Speaker Boehner may think they are ‘big shots’ but they are no better than every other American and they surely are no bigger than the Office of the Presidency.

Deal with it, fellas. Grow up and show a little respect.

I'm sure the cyberhawks have once again shown their gross ignorance. I see the usual names, stacked right up between my posts to you and Sack.

I'm sure neither Rush, or Fux, reported this story, hence, they knew nothing about it, and probably don't even know what a STATE DINNER, is.

Now that they've shown their asses, LWW will probably be having a cyberattack, filling up the forum with more irrational RW BS, to burry yet another display of his gross ignorance, and that of his parrot.

I'm pleased that you hold me in such high esteem, and I graciously accept the compliment...however I should point out that I am unlettered, while President Obama, in February 1990, was elected the first African-American editor of the Harvard Law Review, and he graduated magna cum laude in 1991.
My academic honor(s) was limited to graduating magna cum loudly from Technical High School.

Why aren't you offering proof that there are two different dinners? Do you have a website that states what Reid is declining is a state dinner and Boehner is declining some other dinner? I mean if what you say is true, it should be pretty darn simple to prove.

AP Photo - Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Ky., center, accompanied by Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl of Ariz., left, and Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., arrives for a news conference on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010.
WASHINGTON The White House has postponed a meeting with Democratic and Republican congressional leaders to Nov. 30 after top Republicans said they had a scheduling conflict.

The meeting, originally scheduled for Thursday, will be the first time President Barack Obama sits down with the bipartisan leadership since the Nov. 2 elections that cost Democrats control of the House and shrank the Democratic majority in the Senate.

<span style='font-size: 11pt'>In the wake of a bitter election campaign, the session could presage cooperation or friction between Obama and House speaker-in-waiting John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. </span>

<span style="color: #CC0000"> This is always the purpose of this invitation from the president, which is exactly why it is considered outrageious, to turn it down. It is supposed to be a show of good faith. Fat chance of getting that from Republicans! They need more time to rev up their hateful, nasty lies, and push all of those new Tea Party folks, into line....first! They can't just show up and say NO! they have no solutions to offer, and don't want to be exposed as the dummies they are, like they were in Baltimore. </span>

White House and congressional officials said meeting topics will include spending reductions, international trade and energy policy.

"We'll have a meeting so that we can discuss issues that Republicans have long said can be accomplished together," McConnell spokesman Don Stewart said. <span style="color: #CC0000">LOL... </span>

When the White House announced the initial meeting, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs said the session would not include staff and would wrap up with dinner among the participants.

<span style='font-size: 11pt'>Joining McConnell and Boehner would be the top Democrats in Congress, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.</span>

Also expected to attend are Republicans Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia and Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl, and Democrats Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland and Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin.

A meeting this week would have allowed the president and the lawmakers to discuss issues before the current lame-duck session of Congress, particularly the extension of current tax rates, which expire at the end of the year.

White House officials said the meeting on Nov. 30, <span style="color: #CC0000">The second date agreed upon, AFTER REPUBLICANS BLEW OFF THE FIRST INVITATION.... </span> probably will address any pending lame-duck issues as well.

<span style='font-size: 14pt'>While Republicans have said they want to find areas of common ground with the president, McConnell has also called on Republicans to work to repeal or erode Obama's health care law and has said the top GOP goal is seeking Obama's defeat in 2012.</span>
<span style="color: #CC0000">And there you have it in a nutshell....

On Tuesday, Kyl dealt Obama a blow by declaring that an agreement for the United States and Russia to slash their nuclear arsenals should not be voted on this year. The treaty is a top foreign policy priority for Obama.

Liberals and organized labor, meanwhile, have pressed Obama to confront Republicans and not compromise on key economic issues, including the tax rate extensions.

Both sides have expressed support for extending tax cuts for the middle class. Obama has said he does not want to permanently extend lower rates for individuals earning more than $200,000. But the White House has left open the possibility of a temporary extension of those tax cuts.

You guys can't stand it when you jump early into a story, which you know nothing about, show your asses, and you ignorance, and then refuse to admit you didn't have a clue what you were talking about.

People turn down STATE dinners, which is the kind of dinner Reid is known to have little interest in attending, known for being not the "White Tie" kind of guy. Most State Dinners, are perks, and while it is an honor to be invited, there are always loads of people angling for an invitation.

This OTHER dinner, is traditionally an effort for bi-partisanship, planning, and melting the ice, after hot and nasty elections. NO ONE IN NISTORY HAS EVER BLOWN OFF THIS INVITATION. It is known as a Good Faith Effort. And important step in burrying the election attacks, and moving forward, in a bi-partisan effor to solve the country's problems.

If you can't admit you were wrong in your unfair assessment, comingling acceptances or a decline to attend a State Diner invitation, by Reid, with this completely different protocal, fine, just say so.

Don't try to tie something on my part, to your obvious mistake.

Your Exteraneous efforts to condemn Democratics, in order to justify the Repiglican's on-going, uncouth, rude obnoxious obstructionism, and unprecedented rudeness, is really getting old....and that is exactly what you did in this case.

As I've have written all along. Two different dinners, two different protocals. When the president invites you to come to the White HOuse, to discuss the way forward, and have dinner in his private residence, as the author above, noted, YOU DO NOT SAY "SORRY, I'M TOO BUSY!"

Just one more disgusting, repulsive act of incredibly bad manners, bad taste, and the same ugly Repiglican agenda, which all along, has been to obstruct progress, for political gains.

I dont know why it woulod surprise me, since the right thought it was fine when Bush lied in the State Of The Union Address, and had to redact the sentence, later, and noe of you had a problem with that. None of you minded when a Republican representative, jumped up in the middle of the President's address, and shouted out "YOU LIE!" annd never apologized, when later, it was proven, that the idiot, was not only wrong, but had committed an act of UNPRECEDENTED RUDENESS...

From the start, Repuglicans refused to work with this president, since their ONLY intention, WHICH THEY HAVE STATED, is to get their asses back into controlling everything. Getting back into the White House, is their only interest, and F. solving the critical circumstances which they, and Bush created, which was a colossal disaster for the country, and the world, the last time Repiglicans owned Capital Hill.

That's a lie, Ed.

I told him from the getgo, he was confusing two entirely different dinners, andn two entirely different protocals.

I explained to him a number of times, he was confusing a STATE DINNER, with the traditional Presidential inviataion, to the leaders of the opposing party, to come to the table, to solve the nations problems, and explained to him the difference between the historical differences in protocal, for the two totally different invatations, between a State Dinner, and the Presidential INVITATION, to come to the table on policy, burry the election rhetoric, work together, and then break bread together...in his private residence.

'DO YOU THINK THE PRESIDENT CAN HOLD A STATE DINNER IN HIS PRIVATE RESIDENCE????'

I explained it over and over, that he was not familiar, with the differences between the protocal of a STATE DINNER INVITATION, and a dinner in the President's private residence, following a policy meeting, just after an election...

He STILL refuswed to accept that he jumped to conslusions, about the dinner I was addressing, and the refusal I was addressing, after I explined it to him over and over....

He STILL would not admit, that the two were completely different dinners, and had historically different protocals...which if you click on his link, you will see in big letters, it says, STATE DINNER. I imediately knew he was referenceing a completely different dinner invitation, to which he responded that I was only protecting Reid, and then he became sarcastic, as usual. Even after I posted the damn DEFINITION of a STATE DINNER, he continued to came back with nothing but sarcasm.....and irrelevant rants.

However, now that Sack has adopted LWW's terminology, using words such as Dear Leader, for the President of the United States, and targeting my every post, accusing me of twisting what is clearly the point of the articles which I quote,
I will not hold my former expectation of his posts.

By JIM KUHNHENN

</span>

<span style="color: #CC0000"> This is always the purpose of this invitation from the president, which is exactly why it is considered outrageous, to turn it down.

<span style="color: #CC0000">which was going to be in the private residence, another invitation, you do not turn down. </span>

[color:#CC0000]

On Tuesday, Kyl dealt Obama a blow by declaring that an agreement for the United States and Russia to slash their nuclear arsenals should not be voted on this year. The treaty is a top foreign policy priority for Obama.

[color:#CC0000]Here they are, first time ever, and opposing party, blocking these negotiations with Russia, alredy in line, to reduce nuclear weapons, UNPRECEDENTED. OBSTRUCTIONISM, THAT NEGATIVELY IMPACTS NATIONAL SECURITY. </span>

I've already posted the answer....here it is again,...

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">For the love of Pete!

A STATE DINNER IS NOT THE SAME THING, AT ANY TIME, IN ANY WAY. THE PROTOCAL IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT.

THIS INCIDENT WAS UNPRECEDENTED, AND EXTREMELY RUDE!

G.

</div></div>

I'd say YOU were confused about the "dinner" I was talking about.

I already knew which dinner I was talking about, and told you that, over and over..... right from the getgo, that you were mixing up two entirely different dinners, and two entirely different protocals.

I even asked you if you thought they could put on a STATE DINNER in the president's private quarters.... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

Which should have clued you in, after I told you that this was a private dinner, in the residence, AFTER the meeting...also indicated to you that I had not previously been aware that democratic leaders, were included...however, I made it clear to you, that it was NOT a state dinner, and not the same protocal...

You simply preferred to believe that Reid's regrets, were the same damned thing as Boehner's...although I told you, over and over, this regret from Republicans, was NOT for a State dinner....

You're immediate goal was to prove that I had a partisan agenda, regardless of how many times I told you, TWO DIFFERENCT DINNERS...APPLES AND ORANGES...

I find it incredible, that you didn't hear about this on the news, or couldn't find it for yourself.

You just googled to find something about a Democratic turning down a dinner invitation, without bothering to get it straight, or to accept your imsstatement, when I continued to tell you, every way possible, that you were talking about a totally different dinner, two different dinners, and two different protocals.

Your continued sarastic responses, don't inspire me to dig around to prove something when I know you have your own agenda.

Why should I wear myself out, trying to prove anything to any of you? I don't have to defend myself, or my opinnions, to you, I knew what I was talking about....you jumped to conclusions, and refused to accept the information I continued to give to you, over and over...

You're wasting your time Ed. Quite simply, she thinks that if the President wants to have you eat with him, you are supposed to drop everything and do it. In fact, she thinks the whole country should just bend over and accept Obama as the all knowing, all powerful, Messiah. To say no to him is a capital sin.

Of course, when we have a Republican president, all that will change...

LOL, DUH...Reid did not turn down the dinner which was the subject of my thread.

Apparently, you can't read.

Every White House invitation, has it's own purpose and protocal.

Again, you are saying Reid turned down a dinner invitation, but that was for a totally different dinner, from the invitation I was referencing, which has a totally different purpose, different protocal, from State Dinner Invitations, which you don't seem able to get through you head.

State Dinners are not for policy, not for leaders of the leadership of both parties, to meet, burry the nasty election rhetoric, hold discussions on po0licy, how to go forward, in the intererest of the country, and have dinner, and a few drinks, together. State Dinners, are for welcoming visiting Heads Of State, from other countries. When people can't make a State dinner, and send regrets, that obviously is not an offensive slap in the face.

When the Leaders of the opposing party, turns down the traditional policy planning meeting, and dinner, after the election, it send a message, which is insulting not only to the President, but to the office of the presidency, and the link I posted, addresses.

There is no comparison, between the historical, "Reaching Out to the Opposing Party" Invitation to the White House, usually held within a week of the election results, and sending "Regrets" after being invited to a State Dinner, which has a completely different purpose, and a completely different protocal.

The fact that Reid turned down an invitation to a State Dinner, or even Boehner, for that matter, has nothing whatsoever to do my thread. That is a completely different subject, and was not the point.

Republicans, telling the President, they were too busy to meet with him, and the leaders of the Democratic party, to plan the way forward, after an election, and break bread together, in the interest of the country, and to promote, bi-partisanship, and to let whatever sour taste has been left among all, by election rhetoric, is historically known as a good faith beginning, to the next legislation period, and particularly so, when the opposing party, has won majority, which is usually the situation.

Two different dinners, with two different protocals, as I have stated all along.

I'm done....face is, you actually do not wish to understand the difference, or the issue, we both know that. You're only harping on it, to twist the entire meaning of the thread, to suit your agenda.... this is why I find it a waste of time to communicate with you, at all.

Hence, this is my last post to you. My last attempt to explain a very simple thread, which my grand-daughter could have gotten immediately, back when she was three!

Believe me, I won't make the mistake, of trying to communicate with you going forward.

You keep throwing around the word protocal, so let me ask you something. If the POTUS says jump, is there a protocal that says everyone should immediately ask "how high" ?

When the king wanted something, he would "summon" one of his subjects. Who gave the POTUS the power to "summon" anyone he chooses to his "court"?

POTUS is not King!

Here is the difference as I see it, Gayle.
If they criticise us, we try to explain why we believe what we believe.

If we point out a fault in their logic, they either ignore it, lie their way out of it, or attack with ridicule.
Two different standards.
Unless they get too personal, I try to laugh away their nonsense.

That's it in a nutshell.

Well, they think they own this forum.

In their world, no exposure of anything negative about any Republican, or any failed Republican policies, is true.

I don't know how many times I've seen them deny documented facts, I've lost track...their usual approach is to twist things around to suit their agenda, do their unrelated and irrelevant, cherry picking, and then declare sucess, as they insult the messenger!

I've seen Q blow their BS away hundreds of times, with documented facts, yet they deny everything, even obvious things, like how stupid it is for anyone to think they can predict, what a wild animal is going to do!

Basic, common knowledge, followed up with RW snarking, insults and sarcasm.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

Half the time they don't get things, because their knowledge of the subject is so limited. This thread is a perfect example.

I assumed no one who stayed up with the news, would be unaware of this rude incident, the Republicans blowing off this invitation, a clear message of their intention, to refuse any bi-partisanship.

You wouldn't think you'd have to explain the differenct between declining a State Dinner Invitation, and blowing off a Personl Invitation from the President Of the United States, would you? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

Sorry hondo but gayle did not do any of that. She just kept repeating the same thing over and over. I asked politely for any proof whatsoever and she started talking about twinkies. Then after the attack she tells me I am on ignore. Why even tell me? I can tell if she is not responding to my posts. I never asked her to start responding, so why should she act like that was some sort of "privilege". I am tired of her games. If she is not adult-enough to chat on the board openly then she can just chat with those that will listen to her.

Ed. In her mind, she granted you the privilege of responding to you. In her mind, you challenged her, and thus, you lose your privilege. She thinks she is the almighty leader of the forum, and can decide who is worthy of participating, and who isn't.

I'm not sure if she is just naturally an overbearing authoritarian, or just has an overinflated ego.

Either way, she is of little consequence. But it is fun to catch her in her own lies and bs, and watch her try to squirm her way out of it.

It's my fault that you immediately cherry picked to find an incident where a Democratic, turned down a dinner invitation, for a completely different dinner, and refused to accept my thorough explanations to you that you were talking about a totally different dinner, with a completely different protocal????

I provided you with the correct information, to clear up your erroneous assumption, and sitll, you refused to accept my efforts to guide your thinking to the correct understanding of the entire point of my post.

If you don't know the difference between an invitation to a STATE DINNER, and the traditional presidential invitation to the traditional, historic, after election, reaching out, by the president, to the private Dinner/Meeting, with the opposing party, and insist over and over, to mix the two completely different protocals, how the hell is that my fault?

I provided a link, a definition, and plenty of personal effort, on my part, to explain to you, again, over and over, that you were mixing apples and oranges, two different dinners, two different protocals, two different purposes, and two totally different subjects, between any "regrets" sent by anyone, to a state dinner, and the opposing party, blowing the president's invitation off for the dinner that my thread was addressing, but you were hooked on your usual posting style, of late, of sarcastically accusing me of partisanship, ignorance, misinformation, WHILE you continued on the course, refused to accept my explanations, and my link, and continued with the sarcasm.

Did I not even ask you if you thought the POTUS, would, or even, could hold a STATE DINNER, in his private residence???

Perhaps, if your M.O., wasn't JUST to nitpick, insult and cherry pick, but to actually communicate, instead of immediately becomming sarcastic, codescending AND rude, our communications would take a better course....

The only thing I wrote, which left out some of the facts, which I failed to highlight was that the Leadership of the Democratic Party, would also be there..., but which I corrected. But Obviously one would assume that a meeting to burry the sour grapes during an election period, would include the Leadership of both parties....wasn't THAT relevant, anyway, since,NONE of the Democratics turned down this invitation, for the TRADITIONAL, AFTER ELECTION, INVITATION FROM THE PRESIDENT FOR THE TRADITIONAL, HISTORIC, PRIVATE DINNER/MEETING.

I tried to explain to you,k this was not a STATE DINNER.

You continued to blow that fact away.

You misunderstand. I correct. You refuse to accept my correction, and it's my fault.

Gotcha... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif
